We have got to improve defensively. That’s the one thing about Pope as a coach that really worries me.

We were literally up 12 in the first half. Pope got pwned tonight by an honestly better team and more experienced coach. Is what it is.

We just have to get healthy and get better players next season.
Sorry, should have stated “in the second half”. And yes, Pope got embarrassed. Out-coached, and failed to stick up for our guys on some bad calls. Being the nice guy may have worked when playing against Texas Tech or Utah, but it gets him nothing and gives other coaches the advantage with the officials in the SEC. I love Pope but this is big-boy ball, and he needs to react to really bad officiating with that in mind.

They kept the walls from caving in as long as they could. The talent disparity is huge with UKs injuries factors in.
I think it's more so Sears than anything else. Sears is just on another level ability wise than what we have. But he does overplay his hand at times and in those instances can hurt AL. I think a healthy Butler could have helped to create one of those instances.

Somebody needs to put a little mustard on that hot dog Sears, he’s allowed to do whatever he wants on offense or defense. Walk, palm or carry the ball fall out of bounds stepping on someone s foot, all the calls go his way.
Foul merchant is not so great when he’s not getting calls.

One question, what happened to calling moving pick/screens, Bama moved on almost every screen they set on the ball and they never called one. Carr got called against Vandy for a hip check and he did not even touch the guy last game.

We dribbled the air out of the ball tonight. No ball movement at all. Too much one on one play.

Us: "Pope is doing a good job but Cal has made losing exhausting."

This guy: "OH YOU WANT TO FIRE POPE? MORON. CRYBABY."

Like what the heck? Lol.
It takes a real genius to pull "fire Pope" out of what we've said. Dude's doing good with what he's been dealt with. Losses can still be exhausting. Those two things can both be true.

I was hoping we'd keep this game in single digits.

We had more offensive rebounds and committed less turnovers than Alabama. Normally, that would entail a victory for us.

Instead, Bama was carried by their superior interior shooting. They shot close to 70% from 2.

Pope is doing well. It's hard when so many of your players are injured, especially since this is his first year. We all thought he'd need a few years to get the ship righted from Cal's wreck.

Our guys in the first 10 minutes was ready to break the game wide open and Pope changes the lineup having Oweh and Garrison together which of course ended up badly. Carr's second foul was bs and it definitely changed the game.

As for these refs, they can get bent and don't get me started on the announcers, especially Dykes.

No shock all things considered. Alabama is Kentucky with more guys experienced playing with each other. Good team.

Good to see Carr playing better. Perry scored his career high. Chandler wasnt devastatingly bad.
Whatever happened with Oweh and Almonor I hope doesn't have that injury word attached to it.
But yeah....as hard a job as it is Pope has to try and win with the crew we have right now.
We can't wait on the calvary coming over the hill.

Falls down bs

@Edgarman thinks it was a great call.
I don't think any of the calls were good or bad. I just know if you watch other games the fouls that are called are usually touch fouls when shooting. Other than that it has become WWE. I will bet if you rewatch this game and are truly honest, you will see plenty of fouls on both teams not called. Other than our late fouling to stop the clock, the fouls we close to even. I can accept that we got our *** beat and if not a single foul had been called the entire game we would still have gotten our *** beat. There is no shame in losing, only in not giving 100% on both ends of the floor. We still loaf on defense on many trips down the court. Either our kids don't care or Pope has not benched their *** to get their attention. Bench time is the best lesson a kid can finally realize he is not giving 100%. Owen should have been on the end of the bench the 2nd half. He thinks he is Steph Curry and on the bench he may realize that he is NOT. I watch parts of the UGA/AU and TN/aTm games and they were WWE as well.

You should be frustrated with the previous idiot that was our coach. We had no returning players.

lol. Don't go there. I railed the ever loving crap out of Cal the last year and half. Now go enjoy the rest of your night.
