Vegas oddsmakers had UK-South Carolina opening as a "pick em" game, but early betting now has (drum roll) UK as 2-pt to 2.5 pts favorite.

Vegas spreads are usually pretty accurate but their goal is always the same and that's to take an equal amount of wagering on both sides of the bet. There are still unknowns about both teams this early in the season and there is a chance Johnson may be pretty good. His decision-making on the field was
a pleasant surprise but the competition level is going to go up over the next few weeks so we will see. One thing we do know is the defense couldn't stop a high school team so our only hope is to score a whole lot of points.

Sagarin has SC at 70.8 - UK 64.7. Line should be 3 the other way. I suspect the Cats will take another loss.

Jesus, how bad is SC's offense??
Here's how bad! 247th in the nation, 197 passing yards, 90.7 rushing. While I'd say they do better than that against us, that looks easily like the worst offense we'll face all year (save for Austin Peay)

...and yet we'll make them look like a top 20 team.

Don't know much about their QB, but get ready to see him touted as a Heisman candidate after next weekend.

With only 3 games in I think we need to look beyond the high level numbers.

We played against a top ten defense at Florida.
We played against a CUSA team that was beaten by a very decent Troy team.
We played against one of the bottom 10 teams in the country.

USC played against Vanderbilt @ Vandy.
USC played against Mississippi State @ MSU who lost to LSU by only 3.
USC played ECU who put 52 on Western Carolina and beat NC State.

Regardless if Vandy and MSU are down they have SEC players. ECU has proven themselves as a worthy opponent.

After 2 SEC away games I do not foresee USCjr being the least bit nervous coming here.

Sure their offense is bad, but so was NMSU without their best player at RB, a starting olineman and losing their best wr at half. But they still put up huge numbers.

My faith in our defense couldn't be much lower and I find it hard to believe USCjr can be worse than the previous paragraph.

My other concern is the Cocks havent given up more than 2 touchdowns in 2 of their 3 games.

As of today USCjr has played consistently better talent.
(Did we have anyone actually play vs Florida other than Jones, thus it is discounted in my opinion.)

USCjr has experience on the road.

USCjr can go to 4-1 with a win vs UK with TAMU coming into their house the following week, they really need this.

Of course we need the win just as bad, I am just not sold that this team has the confidence to build on becoming a winner as of yet.

My goodness, how bad is South Carolina? But i guess we need to remember, that they have a head coach that might be worse than we've got. This should be a real coaching clinic.

Carolina was very fortunate to beat East Carolina. They were outgained by a pretty big margin, ECU had over 300 yards in the 2nd half, USC got some turnovers in the endzone. Same thing with Vandy, they could and should probably be 0-3 heading into the game, UK should be no worse than 2-1. USC has a decent enough defense, but their offense is pretty bad. But the matchup pits UK's strength against USC's strength. But they do have a mobile qb, but not in Jackson's league, and hasn't shown to be a good passer.

Interesting. And scary. Apparently SC's offense is so bad the Cat's might be able to hold them under 40 I guess giving us a shot at home. I'm not a better, but even if I were I wouldn't take UK in this game no matter the spread.
