Respectable but we all know there's not 18 teams better. Here we Come. So nice to truly know we will continue to move up for a change.

Go Cats!!
It's fine for now. Let's see how the Cats do against a top 5 caliber team tomorrow before we complain. Lose by double digits or fairly handily, then the 20-ish ranking is fair; win the game and UK deserves a top 10 ranking immediately!

5 to 6 seed-level talent. 1 to 3 seed-level head coach.

I think our reasonable goal is a 4 or 5 seed.
Disagree but what else is new?
Just dont know why you would say this after the ex games and the 2 real games SOS.
4 blowouts.
I get the schedule but that in itself doesn't drop UK to a 4 or 5.

It's called, "playing in the SEC" and about 14 or 15 games against current top 25 teams.

You don't come through that gauntlet with a top 3 seed. Then again, you're the guy who thinks every UK team is going to win the national title.

And you're the Emperor Nero of hyperbole, playing your harp as reason and sound logic burn all around you.
Whatever-its been 45 yrs since a Kentucky team dropped 100 plus in the 1st two games of the season.
Plus, its literally the 1st reg season games these guys have played together and I mean all of them!
UK has been to 9 FFs and won 3 National Titles since then.
Does that not resinate with you at all Dr. Doom?
Duke is in big trouble tomorrow night as is the “loaded” SEC!
GO BIG BLUE!!!
Next detractor step on up.

Yup do not care about rankings this early. Only issue is they rank you very low to start and to get in the top 5 is harder. You have to beat everyone and have top 5 teams lose a few games each. They never drop a Kansas or Duke more than 1 spot but UK they seem to drop us 7 or 8 if we are in the top 5. lol

Motivation for the team is all this is right now. Pope, I am sure is not looking at the polls. He just wants to win every game just like he did when he played here. Hope our guys are ready to punch them in the mouth from Tip to final buzzer.

For the life of me, I can't understand why a handful of posters here keep knocking our talent and athleticism. Not starting a fight, I just don't see what a few of your guys are seeing.
Respectfully,

1. We don't have a first-round pick.
2. We don't have a go-to scorer (yet). Robinson has never been that guy, for any team he's been on. Could he become that guy this year? Sure, but that's yet to be determined over the course of his career.

That's my take. Feel free to disagree.

How many 1st rd picks have we had since 2019; the last season we sniffed the 2nd weekend of the Dance?
Just stop dude.
You have been jaded by Cal.

Well, 1) I would argue that a sizable portion of first rounders are drafted on potential. There are plenty of stellar winning college players were drafted later, but made more of an impact for their college teams. 2) true, but we've had two games, and we'll see who emerges. And we are not short on scoring threats.

I think it's important to remember that we all have to get out of this Cal mindset of talent on paper and potential. IMO, Pope is building a TEAM, and we haven't really seen that here in a while. A Cooper Flag is nice, but I'm watching about eight really solid players form a pretty formidable team, top to bottom, and lead by what may be an elite coach (time will tell on that).

No, not better. I’m guessing you are one of our crazy fans in BBN who does not actually hold a UK degree. Thus, we have your unbridled enthusiasm and wild takes.
Again who cares? Born and raised in Ky, 3rd Generation UK fan.
The ole hold a UK degree garbage is lame and old.
I bet you didnt hold a UK degree when my Grandpa and Mother (Preg w/me) cried their eyes out after UK lost to Texas Western in the 1966 Final.
Keep trying though.
Do you think UK accepts money for tickets-UK paraphernalia-NIL from just UK grads?
Grow up.
You got me F’ed up dude.
Cant wait for tomorrow night as you have incited me further than I was already since we play Duke tomorrow night
Its the University of Kentucky not the University of UK grads!
Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!

This is pretty much where I am at right now. Plus, this UK team may need a few more weeks to fully gel as a cohesive unit. I like what we've seen so far but the competition level takes a huge jump up on Tuesday night. If any team on our schedule is going to expose our weaknesses, it's going to be Dook (and of course Gonzaga). One thing is certain, we will know MUCH more by early Wednesday morning.

Does that make you smarter than any other UK fan being a UK grad??? lol... You act like you are Nostradamus or some thing... Take that smug act off here if you want to get along with others...
Does not make you smarter than a person who never went to school... I have known people who are very intelligent without have any college degree... Common sense is smarter than education any time..

I don’t see where you get that about talent. We got 2 to 3 of the most prolific three-point shooters in the country and we have three of the best defense players in the country. I believe our talent level is higher than 5 to 6.

I don't think a team with this many threats needs one "go to" scorer. The team is built this way and I like that we may not need a "go to" guy.

I don't even care about the intelligence part. Plenty of UK grads graduate without ever caring about, nor understanding basketball. I'm also positive some of the most hard core fans and/or influential boosters are graduates of other schools or never even went to school. That dude sounds like Cal calling fans (who obviously understand basketball) "bennies". I can promise you, that (outside of tution costs they payed), I've given UK far more of my dollars in support of this program than many alumn. Pretty smug, and shallow minded, if you ask me.

We actually have no clue yet. That might be the case. But we haven’t played anyone with a pulse yet. I’d say come January we’ll know how good we are

Dukes a hell of a team but I'm more excited to see how we stack up than worried about losing. It would take a pretty bad loss to knock me off and it would take just a solid showing and a competitive game of actual basketbal rather than dribble ball to keep my hype. Just watching offense is so refreshing now

Rankings this early still matter. During the course of the season you move up with wins, u get dropped down when u lose. So the higher you start, the better chance of being ranked higher than lower. Which also can influence the seed line come tournament time.

I’m not concerned about our talent level. I think it’s within the realm of possibility that we are on the level of 2003-2005. Those were pretty strong teams.

My only real concern is how we step up in big games. We are going to have a bunch. Do we wilt under pressure, or remain cohesive?

If we wilt, I could see us being a 5-6 seed type of spoiler team. Remain cohesive and we can be a 1-2. Very few teams will be able to run with us/guard us for 40 minutes. And I don’t think we’ll be a revolving door on defense like we were last season.
