I didn’t mean any disrespect to coach k his record speaks for itself and Kentucky could do a lot worse than Calipari
I guess it’s cool they made it official....but how is this a surprise? Cal has done pretty well at UK. Why would he leave or why would they want him to?
It makes sense. If made the jump to the NBA, he’d be on the chopping block if he doesn’t produce results within 3 years. At KY, as long as he makes the S16 or better most years, he’ll be fine.
A lot less talent? Hasn't UK been the #2 recruiting class behind us pretty much every year?
In those ten years, K has 2 titles & Cal has 1. You keep your recruiting trophies and we’ll keep the national championship trophies. Deal?
You also have 2 first round exits, to 15 seeds. Kentucky has missed the one tournament in 2013 and had a second round lost to Indiana in 2016, other than that Cal has at least took them to the Elite Eight every year he has been there..

I think this makes sense for both sides. At a high pressure place like Kentucky, it gives Cal the assurance that one or two bad years won't cost him his job. And Kentucky doesn't lose anything because it's doubtful they could find a more successful coach.
It does not mean Cal won't move on if he gets bored or if Auburn and Tennessee become more consistently successful.

2 first round loses is arguably better than completely missing the tournement 1 year & a second round loss.. I can’t even comprehend Duke not being in the tournement..
Coach K, two final fours in past 15 years. Coach Cal, four final four in past 10 years. I’d say both fan bases are pretty lucky. Two of the best coaches in the game.
And if a genie showed up and asked if you wanted KY and Duke to switch histories for the past ten years, you’d say “YES!” before he could finish his sentence.

Like i could not comprehend Kentucky having there season ended by Mercer..
This should help Cal with recruiting. The seemingly endless NBA speculation is used against him. Other than that, this extension is a huge gamble by UK. The risks seem to at the least equal any gain.

Mo.st.dukie made an inaccurate statement. Saying UK had been #2 behind Duke in recruiting almost every year, which is incorrect. So I corrected him and suggested he do a little research next time. In fact Duke has been #2 to UK almost every year since Cal has been at UK.
Three important numbers here: 2, 1, 0.
2: number of Duke national championships during that time.
1: number of KY national championships during that time.
0: amount of fu##s given about recruiting titles.
