It's mainly because the rivals forum is crappy and threads drop off and dissappear after a few days of inactivity. If this forum had permanent threads and we were organized enough to use them, we'd have a 265 page thread on Derek Willis.

Note, the first post on that 19 page thread is in November during Kansas game..

I went over there hoping to get some good laughs.. but to be honest.. I counted a good half dozen posters who were very complimentary of Kentucky. They are afraid. They understand what we are and the talent on this team. It's nothing against Duke... Kentucky is just a once in a generation team.

The "Duke Fan" really perplexes me.. This is a school/fanbase that practically invented the word "bandwagon". None of those number-punching nancys were big into basketball and if they were.. you didn't hear from them, ever. Instead, their fanbase is like 98% non-Duke grads. So it's surprising to me to see them be so level headed. For being a team that is the epitome of front-running, it's amazing how well they grasp the landscape of college basketball.

Have to tip my hat to the Duke Fanbase as of late...

What a great idea. They have one thread about all things UK, instead of our 10 threads about Duke at any given time. I guess that's why they're Duke fans. Those guys are so smart they probably recognize sarcasm and irony when they read it.

It's basically a season long sticky of KY , if there was an organized Duke sticky on this board it would be some 1,500 pages long .

At least he's a Cat.

Willtjer, Gonzaga, Duke, UL, IU, Wisconsin. Pitino, Boeheim, Crean, Self. Meh, it's all good. That's what boards are for.

That thread impressed me and reinforces what I think of Duke. I have and have had a lot of respect for Duke and K.

But I still hate Christian Laetner! and would wear the shirt!

And I still think they are the media darling and the epicenter of all things flopping but you do not see the seething hate and rage for UK that you read on UNCHEATS board.

That's the Duke board that actually closed for a couple of days after BOTH the Lehigh and Mercer losses.

Wussiest of the Wussies.

Someone pointed out to me that most Duke fans are under 40 most UK fans are over 40. Not exactly but he made an interesting observation.

DBR is definitely a "different" style of board. There are a LOT of alumni on that forum, and a lot of older folks. Plus, the moderation there is VERY strict; they allow absolutely no trolling or rumor mongering or flaming. Like... NONE. Some folks really hate it, because it is so sensible and calm; others really like it, because it certainly has a maturity that is, unfortunately, almost extinct on the internet. That said, Jay Bilas has posted there defending some of his positions, Shane Battier posted there when he won a set of "favorite player" polls, and Jason Williams' mom posted there too, IIRC.

And I believe DBR DID shut down after the first round losses; they are pretty big on saying "Vent your reactionary craziness somewhere else, and come back here when you are calm." They did not believe it was possible for the board to stay rational immediately following a loss. They could have been right:)

As much as it pains me to say this, living in the Triangle area has actually made me hate Duke less, and greatly increased my hatred for all things UNC. You would be absolutely amazed at how delusional UNC fans are, and how uninformed they are regarding the game and the college BB landscape. The Dookies that I talk to on the other hand, were much more educated on the topic and generally respected what Cal has been able to accomplish at UK.

I still root against them though, of course.

I couldn't agree more. I have learned since moving to the Charlotte area several years ago that you can at least have an intelligent basketball discussion with a Duke fan, UNC fan...forget about it.

We also have 1500 times more people than them as well.
