I don’t like commenting on game threads, but I will at halftime. This team is allowing every bump to disrupt them on offense and not digging in on defense. It’s visible to the eye, it’s not shots aren’t falling when they’re bad shots. Or shots falling for the Zags. It’s playing soft.
I love this group, I really do. But this is what happens when a bunch of guys from smallet

That was…. not good. We’re clearly missing Butler to help contain their guards on defense, but I’m not sure that’s enough to be the entire difference. The interior defense and rebounding have been disappointing, and we may officially have a problem on offense at this point. Teams are starting to get really aggressive at taking away the 3 point line, and we just don’t appear to have a good counter move in our arsenal with this roster. Nobody can reliably score off the dribble or in the post.
unlike many critics here it’s hard for me to be disappointed in this team so far. it was piecemealed together in a very short time over the summer, made up of a group of players who’ve never played together.

If we could do it over I wish the staff would have gone after somebody more serious instead of Robinson. With each passing game he just looks worse and worse
Unless they grow some nuts, this team is going to get ***** slapped in the SEC. When your 5 won’t even jump for the ball at the tip, gives the least amount of effort of anyone on the court and Pope thinks he’s the guy, UK is in trouble.
Oweh and Butler are the only guys that can penetrate. Cannot get Brea open. Carr is soft. The grown *** men in the SEC are going to feast on these guys if they don’t toughen up.
I’ll give Pope a pass this year, we won’t finish in the top half of the SEC based on what I’m seeing the last two games. I’m not to upset because I know this year is going to be tough, the only time Gonzaga has ever seen a real Kentucky team is when Estill and that team played them. We are either down on talent or had mostly freshman the last two times we’ve met.

Exactly this. I'm just venting and expressing the obvious that all of us are seeing these last few games. Now if Pope brings in elite players and they still look like crap in seasons 2 and 3...that will be a different story!
I'm more pissed at the lack of effort and toughness more than the score. How the heck can you not even try to bring it in a game like this?
Pre-existing relationship Pope had with him played a role, I'm sure.
He has been exactly what he was at BYU, a high volume 3 point shooter.
It’s his A. Reeves hair style, when he wore that mess we played like crap back then as well.
This, no reason these top players are going to programs like Alabama to play for a coach and program that has never won jack squat. We need some big back studs, and we have the money.

This isn't a ballet recital. It's a massive sporting event between two top 10 teams, and our team is getting absolutely blitzed. You trying to curtail that is a curious thing.

Cal left us with no team, Pope pulled this team literally out of thin air. So I'm not going to judge him until he gets his team in here.
That being said, still doesn't make losing easier. Still sucks.
In our two bad games we have simply not been able to match the physicality of the other team. Seems they don't like being the team fans are rooting against.

The thing is even tho Pope pieced this team together with a bunch of mid tier players, the expectation is still there. We are still Kentucky. We still expect the best.
