This is kind of nothing. He quoted the fact that Col. Sanders used to use the N word. UL can remove him from their board but they will only be pissing off one of their biggest donors.

Forbes reported that the conference call in May was arranged by Papa John’s executives and a marketing agency as a role-playing exercise for Schnatter to learn to avoid more public-relations problems, such as his remarks last year about NFL players protesting racism by kneeling during the national anthem.

Schnatter is alleged to have downplayed the significance of his NFL remarks last year on the conference call, and then said that “Colonel Sanders called blacks n—–a” without facing any public backlash.

UL hates this guy anyway. The fans want him dead because he spoke out against that bogus board and Jurich.

He’s dragging that company in the toilet over the last 12 months.

I don’t understand why it has seemingly become a sport these days to bury a person over a word they dared to say.

I'd be pretty pissed if I was the CEO of a public company and I got pulled into a role playing skit by a goddam marketing firm because they were too incompetent to figure out how to manage PR on a thing over half the country agrees with me on.

Then I'd be more pissed if I asked them why they were too incompetent to handle marketing when Colonel Sanders could say n*gger and still sell chicken and they leaked my comments to the press once I fired them.

I assume that's how it went anyway. So I will refrain from judging for now.

Way to engage in the discussion ... There is plenty of precedent that bad things happen when a non-black person says that word. Agree with the double-standard or not, a person who is in the public eye should not be so stupid as to even consider mentioning the word.

Personally he needs to disinvest everything from PJ’s, sell everything local and move to Switzerland or Utah. The company needs to become into like KFC and remake themselves with a series of has been actors doing stupid skits.

If you think the n-word is the only word you are not going to be able to say and keep your job, you're crazy. It's going to keep expanding.

The context matters, and people who just blindly accept that the n-word is some sort of bogeyman, where if you say it, regardless of context, you should lose your job, lack courage and brains.

The fact that people ALLOW themselves to be hurt by words is what’s the saddest to me. Quit being pussies, the word isn’t doing anything to you or making you feel a certain way that you don’t allow it to. Same goes for anyone and any word.

you're right, I don't get why people would get upset when hateful things are said to them. I don't know why you can't change human nature. It's only words.

Except that words really do matter.

Looks like we agree if Papa John called a black person a "n*gger", that person would have the right to be upset.

However Papa John was on a conference call with a marketing firm three months ago and said Colonel Sanders called black people "n*ggers" and now a bunch of random white people who weren't even on teh call are upset.

FAUX OUTRAGE FAUX OUTRAGE

Does it not get exhausting to continuously have to feign outrage over **** that just doesn't matter at all?

My point is (and has been throughout this thread) that if you know a word is taboo and you have seen countless people get ruined for saying it, yet you STILL say it in any context, then you’re an idiot. Just don’t say it. I can’t see how anyone with a decent head on their shoulders could argue against that.

Got it. So from this point forward no person ever, no music, literature, film, etc., white or black, should ever use the N word. Context does not matter.

Would people be feigning as much outrage if he said "Colonel Sanders called people the N word" instead of "Colonel Sanders called people n*ggers"?

Is that where we are with this? Simply quoting someone saying "n*gger" is fine so long as you replace the word you are quoting with "N word"?

I don't say it. Don't plan to say it. Would just like to know where we are drawing the arbitrary line at this point in time. What other words can be quoted so long as you don't pronounce the actual word but use a work around so everyone knows exactly what you're intending to say without pronouncing all the syllables or letters?

I realize it's very easy to say "you can't say the word, doesn't matter regardless of context." But Jesus, get a grip and exercise a tiny bit of critical thought. Context does matter. He was quoting Colonel Sanders and acknowledging how awful it was that he called black people the n word. He just happened to say "n*gger" instead of "N word" so he should have everything taken from him.

Matt Jones and the KSR clowns are killing him over this. Forget all the good things hes done over the years. He actually said the n word out loud. All memory of him must be erased.

I HATE LIBERALS!!

No. They wouldn’t. That’s the whole point. There’s pretty much one word that he shouldn’t have said ... and he said it.

Do I personally think he should be destroyed for it? No. But he’s going to be just fine not working and living off of the millions of dollars he has.

And from what I’ve read, that not true at all. I do t see where he said what Sanders did was “awful”. He was trying to justify speaking out against NFL protesters by saying if Sanders could do that, why is it so bad that I speak out?

So what if he walked to a black person and said, "you are a 'n word'"?

That's OK since he didn't say the word?

Just trying to figure out where you've drawn this arbitrary line.

You are literally too dense to even argue with. Why don’t you go test out your hypothetical situation and let me know how it goes?

So if I call you mean names or say your mom is a ***** you’re either going to cry, fight and run tell someone that I’m a jerk?

I would laugh and walk away because, well I’m an adult and don’t give two f***s what some random person I don’t know (or mostly even people I do know except very close friends/family) says about me or calls me.

Words from random people you’ll never meet or see again don’t hurt unless you allow them to.

Tell me how I’m wrong cardkilla.
