now that he is gone. Why did they not bring this up while on campus?

• Arrested and jailed for aggravated battery for attacking his pregnant fiancee with a deadly weapon.

• Arrested for violating probation.

• Detained for brandishing a handgun and threatening suicide, prompting authorities to check him in to a mental institution.

• Did jail time for again violating probation related to the battery charges, when he was arrested for choking
his fiancee. His six-month old son was present at the scene.

What are they saying? That he was a better fit for their program?

Seriously, the more crap they put out, the more I think we stole a gem from them.

UL is not spreading dirt on Lamar it is a fan. That would be like saying every time one of your fans posts something not needed we say it is from UK and not the words of a fan. I do think he was leaving UL soon if not to UK then somewhere else but the leak of his hire right before signing day will for sure feed the rivalry.

UofL prides itself as "second chance U" and its rehabilitative efforts. I'm sure Coach Thomas is now a model citizen...

And yeah, this is getting posted on all UK websites. I'm sure it's just a "fan" behind the efforts...

Amazing that this is still going strong for now 2 days. Such a big deal being made over a coach who couldnt coach his position nor recruit any recruits?

As I said in the other thread, I and every other UK fan didn't bat an eye or say anything more than "thanks Coach, best of luck!" when Chad Scott left us for North Carolina a few weeks ago. The hyperventilation of UL fan is astounding. The optics for the are just too painful, they are so much better than us but a coach dumping them for us 2 days before signing day is just more than a lot of them can stand.

Are they saying they are mad because they lost their recruiter and they have nobody on campus who can speak to criminals and thugs they recruit?

If they are trying to make UK look bad for hiring someone with a checkered past that is hilarious. That plus the FACT that they hired him much closer to his offenses, AND it APPEARS that he hasn't had any problems in his two years at Transfer U.

Of course, with jurich in charge, we can never be sure of the last statement.

Hopefully he has been told what he can/can't get away with at THE State University, any relapses will not be covered up or tolerated here. Surely they vetted him thoroughly and determined his past is behind him.

Just look at BP and Pitino, no adultery, misuse of public funds, tabletop escapedes, abortions, etc etc in the same two years, guess the money they make is hard to give up.

Although no one has established just where BP was during the Minardi Hall escapades.

Oh yeah, you guys have always been so reasonable about former UK coaches now coaching at UL.

Reasonable? Is there anything reasonable about screwing an ex model on a table at porcinis while your assistant guards the door, paying for her subsequent abortion, and then having her imprisoned, all the while, maintaining a catholic priest on your bench for every game??? I could go on but, that would take all night...next please!

Are you kidding? We love having Pitino at U of L. He is 1-8 against Cal, he is completely out of control to the point no sane parent would send their kid there - who wants to play for a coach who cheats on his wife and bangs a lady on a table for 15 seconds, pays for an abortion, and then has his assistant marry the same lady? Then he runs a brothel out of dorm named for the brother of his wife. How dare you bring this up on the day Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow

Lamar must be one hell of a coach/recruiter for Mitch to give the green light to hire a guy with his domestic record. BP looks like a Saint next to this guy. I hope things work out for the best.

Not sure exactly, but I did hear that he was just so-so on the coaching front , and was on the way out.... I heard a Grad Assistant basically took over the reins (prior to potthead Petrino Jr.) because all he did was talk about himself.

But, glass is half full, and he can recruit... Ever hear of a guy named Lamar Jackson ?

When Hughes and Demling put out the same response almost contemporaneously, it sure looks like someone at UL placed the theme into circulation.

This happened 19 years ago! What do some people want him to do wear a "Scarlet Letter" around his neck? Is he to pay for this conduct for the rest of his life? Should he be permanently denied the opportunity to redeem himself? Coach Calipari kept Rod Strickland on his staff even though he had 4 DUI's including one after he arrived in Lexington.

People are entitled to second chances. I have not seen any evidence of this kind of conduct being repeated since it happened. I say welcome him to Big Blue Nation. I'm glad he is here to provided much needed help to our receivers.

This is expected. Even good fan bases engage in sour grapes. Louisville's pissy fan base ravenously supports their scum bag coaches like Pitino, Petrino, Hurtt. But as soon as a respectable guy like Lamar Thomas takes a job with a coach like Stoops he has known for a long time - for a HUGE RAISE and an SEC opportunity - well, of course, there must be something wrong with him. LOL! Or so the Louisville fans would have us believe. This is just fine with me. It will look great on Kentucky's locker room bulletin board, and I'm sure Coach Thomas won't forget it.

I understand - it's ok to hire a guy who assaulted his pregnant fiancé to coach our football players because we continued to employ a serial drunk driver to coach our basketball players. I'll be sure to use that line of reasoning on the idiot Loserville fans at work.
Just to straighten this out, Calipari removed Rod Strickland from a coaching role when Strickland was arrested and charged in Lexington. Following that, Strickland served in an administrative role, not a coaching role. It's true that Calipari didn't throw Strickland to the street, just in case you think that justifies your comments. I will be interested to see how well the other implication in your post holds up to the light of day. But when it comes to fabricating moral equivalencies between the way Kentucky's and Louisville's athletics programs are managed, the Louisville apologists are finding themselves in a tough spot these days! Most of us believe in 2nd chances, but not in criminal cover ups that require a grand jury investigation. LOL!!

No offense but that is some world class rationalization right there. I've read a lot of your previous posts on the subject and always agreed with you but, you've blown all credibility on the topic if this is your position moving forward. If someone wanted to, they could essentially explain away the hiring of a true scumbag like Hurtt in a similar fashion.o_O

Please, tell us your previous screen name, because no one believes a poster like you has only been silently lurking here for any appreciable time.

Interestingly enough, over on the Tard board, one of the more rabid UK haters, a clown who goes by the handle "BP Ghost" was criticizing UK's alleged hypocrisy over the Thomas hire. He referred to it as a "Faustian" bargain. He followed his comment with a "lol". I, for one, get the joke; he's over there gloating about his handle over here.

I will give him credit for being a bit more clever than the usual poser. He constantly refers to UofLoL as "Loserville" and most of the Tard fans going incognito here can't bring themselves to ever say anything like that.

According to UL fans, he did not have 1 recruit in this class, was creating fraud with his expense reports and not doing his job. They also are saying that he was a terrible WR coach, no fundamentals and already had been told to find another job.

Does anyone know if these things are true or not ?

Sounds like we picked up a coach that was just getting ready to be fired for "cause." Sometimes when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Maybe Stoops overlooked these things because of his connection to Gran.

Should we be concerned with this hire ?

No butt hurt from UofL. He was already told to hit the door and his contract wasn't being renewed. I think it perturbs Petrino that he opted to go to the rival. Even Andrea Adelson had caught wind of this before the move:

From whom did she did hear it? And when?

To the first question, my guess, is from someone affiliated with the Tards. To the second, my guess, is after he left.

I tend to believe Adalson. I tend not to believe her source.

Not sure. But her tweet occurred about an hour after the announcement by looking at the time line.

Taken from first article I found:
"Sypher who is a former model and auto glass saleswoman clung to her son Jacob Wise after the hearing and did not make any comments as they were leaving the courthouse." - See more at: http://fabwags.com/karen-cunagin-sypher-rick-pitinos-affair/#sthash.ICKWb49e.dpuf sorry if you don't like it but she was a model...it's fact.

Stoops wanted to announce the hire earlier it was Lamar that wanted to honor his commitment to UL and go through with his last in-home visit. So while the UL fans are throwing dirt on coach Thomas and calling it a dirty move it was actually quite the opposite. Stoops and Lamar both confirmed it on the radio today

It's funny. When reading up on the Gary recruitment an how much money supposedly was offered Michigan fans defended getting him by saying that if they were paying they would of landed Fitzpatrick. Clemson fans quickly jumped on board with "ul has been paying for a while".

Just hearsay but thought some of you guys would like to hear the cooler gossip. Mich never recruited Fitz hard cause he was looking for perks.

So he visited a UofL recruit and presented himself as a representative of UofL while knowing he was leaving for UK. That would certainly lie somewhere between deceitful and disingenuous.

It's only deceitful if he went and told the kid he would still be there or tried to recruit him to UK. He may have went and told the kid hey I'm not going to be here much longer but you're in good hands with Petrino and I think it's a great situation for you.
