Game Day -3 again. If the Cats are going to go bowling, this is close to a must win. Minny has been hobbled by injuries and the rest of the Division seems to be improving by the week. Without a win here, it will be very hard to get to 6. So, in the spirit of hope:

Hubert Humphrey 13
Adlai Stevenson 17

I predicted a loss/win/loss/win pattern to continue for the rest of the year, I'll stick with that. this week we win, then lose, win, lose, win, end up 6-6. Minn is probably way better than Rutgers, but I see us more competitive in this than in Mich game.

We are not stepping in a gopher hole. Cats are far too nimble for that!

As a related aside, I once sat next to a guy on a flight from Denver who had been hired by a high plains rancher to shoot gophers on his property. Apparently these rodents create so many holes that the beef cattle step into them and break their legs, which is very costly. This guy told me how he went out onto the back 40, set up shop behind a clump of grass, and shot away for a few hours, killing dozens of rodents.

Whodda thunk that?

I think arming our offensive line with fire arms would prove to be a strategic advantage!

I assume we get to 18 because Charlie misses the three extra points? Or maybe he kicks 7 FGs.

More likely prairie dogs. Bigger holes, more of them, and shooting them is a sport out there.. Right now, we're the dogs. let's dodge the bullets and come out alive and kicking.

Minny runs the ball well even with 3rd string back due to O line, we don't defend the run well...so Minny 28 - us 14

Gophers, prairie dogs, wolverines, badgers...all the same to me. Furry little vermin. Cornhuskers too.

Momentary thread hijack. It seems that some B1G football plant and animal mascots are given a bad rap by their coaches (not players)--Wolverines, Huskers, Lions, Belted Kingfishers. OTOH, some mascots reflect their coaches equitably--Knights, Turtles, Wildcats, Spartans, Hawkeyes, Boilermakers, Badgers, Deer's eyes (Bucknuts), Hoosiers (not a mascot). Then there's the Gophers, those sneaky little buggers that appear to be cute. I'd say coach and gopher about equal.

Coach and Gopher 17
Coach and Wildcat 24 (Kuhbander makes the field goal)

If Fritz were playing, I'd go with Minnesota. Fritz vs. Fitz, two great people.

Last week my heart predicted a close NU win, but my brain predicted an easy Michigan victory. I will just go with a brain prediction this week:

Minny. 24
NU 14

I will, of course, hope I am wrong, but with no effective place kicking game, I think Fitz will have to go for it on fourth and long a few times.

I think your grain prediction is a little corny. Save it for the Ioa game.

Punting isn't that bad, just field goals.

Cats 49-3. Goophs kick with less than 3 minutes left to preserve some dignity, I guess.

So 7 field goals total on the day for CK? Wow! That would be a redemption.

Ever see those YouTube videos where some guys set up in an enclosed cattle pen with high powered pellet rifles and whack a couple hundred rats in a span of a few hours at night. Some videos of that are done in urban settings. Unbelievable how many rats are around.

Yeah, this is what my Nabob head says. But I ain't going with my head this week. My heart says the OL is going to bring it tomorrow, and that could ignite the whole team.

Everybody else is predicting we hold the Dirt Eaters to 20-ish. I don't see that, even tho our defense is back to playing sound football. I think we have to have a pretty big day on offense, and my heart says the OL, Hilinski and Hull put it together. I'm predicting Evan Hull to have a big day against his home state school, who blew him off with no offer.

Have no clue what the score will be but I’ll go out on a limb and predict that the Cats win This week with a significant contribution from Andrew Marty.
