Secretariat- not only won the Triple Crown, but set records for each race that still stand today.
Jack's 18 Major wins.
Jack's 18 Major wins.
Schwarber must be close to that.... Edit: He's at 46. It's possible.Ricky Henderson broke up 81 no hitters with a home run. Lead off hitter.
The first two will never be broken. It’s just impossible in this age of mega contracts for teams to allow a big investment to play through the inevitable injuries that would come from playing in every game for over 16 years. And you have the rampant rumors that the Orioles resorted to trickery to keep Cal’s streak alive (see the Kevin Costner story).2,632 consecutive games - Ripken
511 Wins - Cy Young
1406 Stolen Bases - Rickie Henderson
762 Home Runs - Barry Bonds
I can't go with wins by a Pitcher in a season because they are crazy and all pre-1900.
Baseball has changed so much you won't see 300 game winners anymore and very few 500 HR guys.
I would have beaten Muhammed Ali if I had been 6" taller and a lot faster and tougher than I was. And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.Tiger would have passed Jack if he could have kept his head right and not tried to kill every tee shot
Plus having EVERY horse in this years Derby in his bloodline.Secretariat- not only won the Triple Crown, but set records for each race that still stand today.

So was Secretariat. Reinstate Man-O-War!Bonds was a juicer. Hank Aaron should be reinstated by MLB as the HR all time leader.
I wish I could have a retirement plan like SecretariatSo, Secretariat's sperm bank was really a major gold mine for his owner!!

Wilt?? Maybe. But that's due to the three point shot existing in today's game.Dimaggio's 56-game hit streak
Tiger's 144 straight cuts made (though, the no-cut events he participated in counted toward this)
Wilt's 100 points
Tiger would have passed Jack if he could have kept his head right and not tried to kill every tee shot
Is that really a record? hmmm. How about second place finishes in golf majors? Jack has 19. Mickelson next closest at 11.
I wonder if anyone can get Hack Wilson's 191 RBI's in a season. Man Ram and Sosa got to 165 and 160 respectively and were still miles away. When I think of unbreakable records, it's definitely many of those old baseball records that are untouchable. Triples will never happen with the same frequency with today's stadium configurations. Anything involving durability with a pitcher is untouchable. Though it's unlikely to occur, I could see someone hitting in 56 straight games, someone scoring 100 points in an NBA game, a coach winning 409 games. But no one is touching Cy Young's 749 complete games or Bob Feller's 36 complete games in a season unless something completely changes with the way that baseball is played. The last two seasons, the MLB leader had 2.
Again, I'd put it in the "really difficult to break" category...but the odds are much higher of someone catching lightning in a bottle and doing it than a pitcher throwing 749 complete games.I wonder if anyone can get Hack Wilson's 191 RBI's in a season. Man Ram and Sosa got to 165 and 160 respectively and were still miles away.
Babe Ruth said that record would never be broken. That record has stood for 90+ years and since the 30’s no one has come close.I wonder if anyone can get Hack Wilson's 191 RBI's in a season. Man Ram and Sosa got to 165 and 160 respectively and were still miles away.
Well I guess PSU is just going to need to start scheduling Clemson each year and beat there azzes! To all those saying those records will never be broken, in my lifetime and I'm sure those on this board recall hearing for many, many years, that Lou Gehrig's 2,131 consecutive game streak was unassailable as well as Ty Cobb's 4,191 hits. Just sayin.
Right now, Dabo Swinney is ahead of the pace Joe set to get to 409 in terms of both age and years coaching and he has more games per year as well to assist him.
If we are going down that road, the Bills' 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses will not be surpassedHow about second place finishes in golf majors? Jack has 19. Mickelson next closest at 11.
Statistically improbable (probably impossible)Schwarber must be close to that.... Edit: He's at 46. It's possible.
Two things that I want to say in response to this post.To all those saying those records will never b(e broken, in my lifetime and I'm sure those on this board recall hearing for many, many years, that Lou Gehrig's 2,131 consecutive game streak was unassailable as well as Ty Cobb's 4,191 hits. The worst thing that could happen to Dabo and his pursuit of the record would be the ACC breaking up and Clemson joining the SEC or the Big Ten, both of which have been rumored. He doesn't come close to the record if he joins either of those conferences.Well I guess PSU is just going to need to start scheduling Clemson each year and beat there azzes!
He has his late father to thank him for that. Let's hope he doesn't pass down the same stupidy to Charlie.Tiger would have passed Jack if he could have kept his head right and not tried to kill every tee shot
His boys could swim!Plus having EVERY horse in this years Derby in his bloodline.
Hanging out in Vegas with Jordan and Barkley did not help him eitherHe has his late father to thank him for that. Let's hope he doesn't pass down the same stupidy to Charlie.
