Davis gone...that job is open.

It will be interesting to see what impact this has on other jobs.

Yep because NC is not going to go after or settle on a Mid Major guy.
UNC open...Self is retiring (from what a dude that is super connected said, but who knows), Duke might open, Michigan might open because KU wants May or Lloyd, Zona could open and Bama could open.

This will be wild.

Why would Duke be open? Where is Scheyer going?

Oh I missed that. I think he'd be foolish to do that. He should take a long hard look at his mentor, Coach K. Grass ain't always greener.
He is from the Chicago area and would probably double his salary (Maybe?)...who knows.

Seems like a weird move to me but he must be listening to them a little bit because there has been a lot of talk about it.

UNC is going to end up with the Vandy coach I bet.

They will strike out with Jay Wright...they will try to get May who I think will leave for KU instead.

Google AI (can't attest to its reliability) is saying he is making $7-8 mil. $8 mil would have him top 10 in the NBA and idk if you can justify paying a rookie coach top 10 salary. We'll see how this shakes out. Can't remember the last time college basketball had such a big coaching carousel with all these big name schools (possibly).

For me, I would think being at Duke would be better than being with the Bulls.

Maybe the Coach K shadow is annoying? I don't know.

Okay...soooo...it seems like John likes the path that Brad Stevens took. So John might want to coach in the NBA for a bit and then be the Bulls president/GM type job. That makes more sense.

Also, Stevens just said he is not interested in the UNC job (Shocker! Ha)

Well I can't blame him for wanting that route. Brad Stevens has been doing a phenomenal job with the Celtics. Even as a Lakers fan I can admit and respect that. Wish our front office was as competent as theirs.

Scheyer isn't leaving Duke. It's his dream job and he's a hero who has incredible job security. Go to the NBA at this age? If it doesn't work out, you come back to .... another school? Not happening.

He won a Natty at Duke, he and Coach K have an incredible relationship and there's no big brother over his shoulder. It's Scheyer's program now.

I don't think he would leave either. Just a lot of chatter. Probably using it to get a new fat deal from Duke.

He is signed through 32 making 7-8 million I doubt he is looking for a new deal. I think it’s a situation where you don’t want to burn bridges with the NBA by not listening. Because at some point he may want to make the Move but if you shut down all previous talks they won’t keep coming back.

I wonder if the winner of tomorrow’s Iowa-Nebraska matchup gets their coach poached as part of this season’s musical chairs. Or extended.

Fred seems to love NU.

That iowa coach could bolt though. Those jobs don't open often and making 7 million at UNC would be way better than 3ish at iowa.

Self getting out like Saban.

This stuff ain't nearly as fun when everyone else can pay their players the same as you.
Right??

KU is a dream job...when you and only about 5 other schools are masters at cheating.

I would have had more respect (not that he cares) for Saban had he just come out and said that..."I loved buying players when we were one of the few schools doing it. It sucks now that everyone is doing it"

Fred isn't leaving after this season, he's a legend here now, and he doesn't have to deal with crazy expectations like at a place like KU or UNC. If he just makes the tournament every couple of years here he will have job security for life.
