I don't know that Dylan would help. Bottom line is we can't stop anything on the ground. We’ve struggled to stop the run all year. Penn state and Iowa will take advantage. We miss Dylan.
I understand TJ is young but you gotta give him a shot. After they got 10 u have to open up your offense. If u can't get stops this wasn't gonna be a defensive struggle. Let the kid play and luve with the results. They said they were gonna let it rip . I can't tell...I don't know that Dylan would help. Bottom line is we can't stop anything on the ground.
First, as a staff you have to be smart enough to recognize the problems and the next is to fix them, but guess what nothing ever happens cause you cant fix stupid. ... BTW Penn St just scored again and probably won't punt tonight and neither will Iowa's punter in 6 days. One of the huge failures of the staff was not getting more help on the d front in the portal.
Yeah I am so tired of hearing about how few yards our pass defense gives up while we get gashed on the ground for 10+ yards a carry. A lot of these teams have decided just to run it because we can't stop it. So yeah, our pass defense looks better statistically.Hard to watch literally every P4 team have no trouble running the ball.

Butler needs to feel some pressure to get this **** fixed. You CANNOT win in this conference without being able to run and stop the run.
Did he have a say in the DL line coach hire? Does he ever alter his scheme to better match up against running teams?Butler had nothing to do with the pathetic DL he was handed....
Half true. Both sides of the line are terrible. Have been for a long time and we won’t be successful until then. Not really surprised.
We've got a couple lineman who play too high. When guys get into them, they get stood up, pushed back. It's gotta be pretty damn tough for the LBs find there way around back there. And if any of our guys get double teamed, they really get manhandled. And our edge defenders-- it looked to me that at times we didn't even have anyone on the edge. Do we have anyone at this point who is physical enough to even set an edge?Fwiw although our defensive line struggles to get off blocks I'm not sure they Re the biggest problem. Our LBs struggle to fit in the run game and our edge guys give it up way to easily. See number 11.

I think the problem was actually what we brought in. Jaylen George is too small with short arms. Gabe Moore has been a non-factor and at 290 he's still 30 pounds too light for what we need in that role. Nwaneri is a stud, but he's young. And I think he's more of a 4-3 defensive end rather than a 3-4. Sometimes he's playing the B gap and that's not his game, plus he's too small & young for that. One of the huge failures of the staff was not getting more help on the d front in the portal.
This was a case of very poor depth building for years behind Hutmacher and Robinson and the staff thought they had enough to get by, obviously they didn't and don't. Time to invest all that money Matt Rhule say's Nebraska now has at it's disposal and never let this happen again if at all possible.
But Rhule recently said that we won the portal this year.I think the problem was actually what we brought in. Jaylen George is too small with short arms. So we brought in two duds and one dude. But the dude is playing out of position.
Yup Rhule is really bad at talent evaluation in the portalBut Rhule recently said that we won the portal this year.
I don't know about every dime but a huge portion should go towards re-shaping and making our OL/DL one of the best. You can have the best DB's in college football but they can't do it all they need support and it starts up front. As far as the OL major help is needed, we are far from being a dominate force and no elite running back is going to come here until we get that group fixed.Every dime should go to the OL and DL this go around.....
It’s mid 3* vs 4* and 5*. It’s not changing. Our team loses 13 starters next year, lol. Very old team without talent behind and our worst recruiting class in history coming in.What I saw last night is we are still slow and undersized in about every category, now Rhule isn’t going anywhere but he needs to change things like strength and conditioning, even our linebackers are small compared to most big ten teams. Except for maybe evans and spindler the offensive line is awful, I love Emmitt but we are lacking the speed, remember several years ago we beat Iowa single handed by Trey Palmer because Iowa couldn’t mat his speed. I admit Coach Rhule needs to make some hard decisions in the off season. And if other teams are juicing and we don’t we better get with it heck the ncaa basically gives teams the green light
It's way more cost effective to hire someone who is actually competent to coach those positions. The lines should be the easiest positions to develop and coach up to competence. The fact that we still have guys regressing instead of improving here says everything about coaching.Every dime should go to the OL and DL this go around.....
Almost every fan was concerned about the DL talent coming into this season but for some reason the staff didn't go after any immediate starter DTs. I don't think we have guys that are Big 10 calibre players let alone draft picks. Lenhart is ok and KVP and Gabe Moore are just too slow and not strong enough to win battles. I don't expect a Suh, but we need guys that could play at the next level. There was an extremely obvious need to find a big body to replace Nash and Ty and the coaching staff completely failed. Also wasn't a fan of taking undersized bodies from lower conferences as the coaching staff thought was sufficient. In fact, that has been where most of our portal whiffs have been, while transfers from P4 conferences have made positive contributions. Sherman, Nwaneri, McCullough came from the SEC and Rocco came from ND. Need to start tampering more to attract attention from guys who are deserving of being on P4 rosters. Or at least can launch a bidding war to make those teams have to pay out the *** to keep their own rosters intact.
