Union (13-0) will host Appomattox (12-1) next Saturday, December 2 in the VHSL State semifinal game.

I saw this online...

"Will the Raiders be able to bite the Bullitt?"

Should be a classic!

p.s. I predict this thread will go bonkers.....probably one of the hottest threads all season.

The way Union plays, they aren't attempting to dodge anyone right now, they're attempting to go straight over people.
If Union can dominate the LOS as well next week as this week and securely tackle in space, Appo have their hands full.

I have to say i'll speak from emotion and maybe have to eat some crow. But, i keep a full kitchen stocked with plenty of salt and pepper to season it with. And after taking my daughter shopping today i may need that crow to eat lol.

Ahh heck it's nothing but a road trip i look forward to it myself. May even leave on friday and take a detour and drop in at Oak Hill Academy where i went to school at.

Union will win this game like they beat Graham. This will be a high scoring game for 1 team and 1 team only. Da Bears!!! I look for them to complete a perfect season. 15-0

You have been wrong calling scores all along appo /glenvar was not low scoring like you predicted. This will be high scoring and if Union can put 30 on appo then have a chance but I am looking for Appo to come out this week with no mistakes in the red zone and taking care of business.

Well according to a lot of people Appo puts up huge numbers and 26 isn’t a huge number. None the less, they won the game. They will face the best team they have seen all year in Da Bears!!! I’ll be making this trip because the 1A match up doesn’t intrigue me at all. Galax is called Roll Tide and that’s what they will do.

Don’t be shocked if Appo doesn’t make it to the red zone. Just my opinion and I hope no one gets a rash from it. This will be my disclaimer from now on. LoL!!!

Correct me if I am wrong you called for 19-16. Game. I told you appo would put up minimum 28 to 30 pts and if it wasn't for one the worst calls I have ever seen on a missed FG that was obvious to everyone there except 2 refs. They then would have scored 29. Right where I told you what the minimum score would be. What I meant earlier about cleaning up red zone miscues is two 1st and goals from the 15. That happened not because of something glenvar did but from what our offense did to cause it. Fix that and score would have been bigger. It will be fun game to watch but if union wants to win then I will say it again score alreast 30. Raiders in a shootout.

Okay, we were both wrong. LoL!! If I truly knew the scores of every game, I wouldn’t be on preps talking crap. LoL!! I’m merely giving my opinion as everyone else is. I just don’t get a rash from everyone else’s like they do mine.

From everything I've heard/read, Bullitt Park must be a VERY TOUGH place for visitors.

What other 'home turfs' are tough to win at for visitors?

I think I would put Appomattox's home field on that list as well.

Play to defend your house , Appo has done that , glad to see this team is making there path different than the last two , so all the Blah Blah people can't say they had the easy road ! Raiders will go in there and defend there title and go back to Salem , big difference when you know how to win in big games !! Raiders 32 - 17

You could be right with your prediction. And Appo has surely gotten it done the last 2 years. But the 2 schools that combined to form Union have won a combined 14 state titles. There’s a history and tradition in Big Stone/Appalachia that is storied and deep. It’s not in those kids blood to shy away from big games.[/QUOTE]

Great teams don’t leave points on the field. Union will not leave points on the field.

Then last years Union team must have sucked since they left all the points on the field and took zero home with them. First shut out in their history.
Not trying to disrespect the Bears with this, just saying good teams do leave points on the field at times. They are high school kids!

I’m a union fan?? LoL!! I’m someone that doesn’t get in line with everyone else and then ask. Where we going. I’m a fan of HS football, I have an opinion on a public forum and most can’t handle reading it. I truly don’t care if you like what I say or not. If you can’t handle that. Don’t read it. I’ll be at that game to watch it in person. Then I will talk about it afterwards, if this gives you a rash. Buy some ointment.

i personally think it will be a close battle with tons of d-1 talent on both sides, mitchell , graves, scruggs forsure going to next level maybe more. all this talk about calling fr blowouts etc is crazy talk on both sides, thats said lets all keep it classy ok. i hope mitchell goes to va tech i hope graves dows as well. Last yr appo had home field and union had to make this super long travel, advantage appo then.. now the role is reversed..ok fair is fair, i think it will be a good game and i hope for decent weather and no injuries no matter who wins.. i hope the winner of this game wins it all and i will make the trip to big stone gap as well to cheer the raiders on. anyone that comes on this board and predicts a sure fired win 100% by his side in a blow out is. delusional .i mean come on thats prob not going to happen on either side. i do not feel any side canne positive they will win, I mean would anyone really bet the house on it people?? lets keep it real

As I said in an earlier post, a couple of weeks ago, "all is quiet on the western front." Union just plays their game by lining up and giving it their best shot. No spit and polish for this team, just hard nose football.

This will be a classic at Bullitt Park. Safe travels to all the Appo fans and enjoy our beautiful mountains here in SWVA.

Oh, by the way, when you get to Christiansburg (Blacksburg), just remember you have three more hours to drive!

Bo bo, wez all talking about this year. Last years team was great and you can talk about that for years to come. Both teams aren’t last years teams. This will be the best team you have seen in 3 years.

There it is again, that word IF. If is a huge word for just 2 letters. If your aunt had balls she would be your uncle. IF the Raiders beat DA BEARS, well they get to play another game and I will make my pick then.

Tell the 15 Richlands team that or the Heritage team from 3A we played this year that we lost to but is demolishing teamsin the 3A playoffs (although they meet the undefeated St River team this week)

I do think it will be a battle. Appo isn't last years team and they know that, but they are their own beast to be dealt with.

Appomattox by 80+!!! Didn't you guys know they're 2x state champs?? Union already has the basketballs out from what I heard so they're not even showing up next Saturday. i heard they're gonna let Appomattox show up at Bullit park and just let the 2015 team play the 2016 team! Any truth to that??

I think Appo averages close to 80, but they will say..... we left points on the field.

If it wasn't 8 hours round trip, I would love to go. Is the game being streamed? radio?

Haven't seen Union play but they must be real good to dominate a great Graham team like that.

For Appo, Union needs to get their 4th and short defense ramped up to have a chance. Appo only punts inside their own 40 and with more than 5 to go. It's awful hard to stop drives when a coach is willing to throw the dice like that and usually wins. Also.... at times,I thought I was watching a scrum in rugby. Appo pushes/pulls the ball carrier forward for 3-8 yards at times. It's not just players helping the ball carrier get a few extra yards or a TD. It looks more like a designed play and worked really well, especially on the opening drive. If i were Union, I would try and figure out how to defend that. Not a fball coach but I guarantee it's coming to Bullitt park.

Another surprising thing to me last night. Appo is not big..they are HUGE. Much bigger than any other team around here. Quite a few of those guys look as big as college players.
