At United Center for NU/Dayton. There are maybe 2,000 people here, and 90 percent of them wearing Dayton red.

kinda fun right now watching IU lose. Hopefully Butler can close out the last 3 minutes. I hate Crean.

Well, that's depressing...and not at all surprising.

I'd say 3,000 now at tipoff, but still all Dayton. There were more NU fans at the football game at Rice years ago than here right now.

Dayton fans probably drove out en masse and spent the weekend, while expecting an easy win. It was pretty quiet in the first half.

There were more Dayton fans than NU and Illini fans combined. By a lot. Pretty embarrassing

They just said on the broadcast of the Illini game that, due to weather, the Illini band and cheerleaders didn't even make the trip. That might explain the lack of Illini fans.

I was there. I paid $50 each from the website for 3 tix for Mrs. Dugan15, DuganDaughter#2 and me. I am REALLY glad I didn't pay $150 each.

Pretty sure most people looked one time at the ticket prices when they were released, chortled, and said no thanks.

I went. Terrible crowd. Looked for tickets on stub hub and they were 70 bucks a pop for upper level tickets. Uhhhh no thanks, ended up getting them from a friend who works in the UC box office.

Dayton had an awesome showing. I stayed for half the U of I game and they didn't even have anyone there.

Exactly. It's a carbon copy of when the Io-a, UNL OSU people take over Ryan Field. Gives the locals a chance to visit the big city a hell out of their nothing else to do towns. Also NU did little to promote the game. NO newspaper, radio, TV or internet ads. It will be a long, long time before the Cats and their couple of hundred fans are invited back to the UC.

I think this double header "chicago classic" is intended to be an every year thing....featuring NU and Illinois as hosts.

And as NU gets better, the opponents are expected to get better. It was a very fun bball game to watch. I think the BYU / Illinois game was fun as well.

I also think there were a few thousand no shows because of weather. There were no lower bowl tickets avail at a reasonable price on stub hub.

Did you stay for the Illini game? It actually appeared to be far emptier than our game, at least on TV.

I didn't, but I'm not surprised - there were very few Illini fans in the building, even by the time I left, and obviously there weren't going to be a ton of BYU fans there.

1) They need to lower the prices. I was dumb enough to pay face value, but $70 for the third level in that horrible arena with no teams in the top 20 is laughable.

2) The board wasn't the only place that noticed how bad the NU attendance was. Thank goodness for NU family and friends or else the number would have been much lower.

Must have been the jackwagon who asked that last question in the Collins press conference. What a joke.

Seventy bucks a pop on Stub Hub? No wonder nobody was there. NU and the recent Illini teams have a long way to go before they will attract people at those prices.

Lowest I saw it dip was $40 for the high rows of the corner 300s sections.

Our UC attendance was pathetic last year, too. :( Kind of crazy that we're a few years removed from packing the place with orange, and definitely sad.

Good teams with better matchup and better weather would certainly help.

Maybe they could hold the game in Decatur next year.

90% of his game story stuck knocked no show NU fans. He did give the final score at least. I will say that he had a point. Was NUMB in attendance?

Barely. Once Dayton pretty much had the home crowd feel, it seemed like NUMB wasn't even playing. They may have still been, but you wouldn't know it.

Illinois didn't even bring its band or cheerleaders. Was the weather that bad in Chicago? Or just Champaign?

NU football did not sell out Nebraska at NU football this year. Tarps in place. Just saying.. Is Dr. Jim just mailing it in these days?

Well, he managed to raise $110 Million to redo WRA, so I'd say he had a pretty good 2016!

NU basketball is not a thing..... yet. We know that. We struggle to get fans into our own building. People did not grow up loving Northwestern basketball. We are not the identity of the state or region like most of the state schools in the BIG. However, the opportunity is there if this team keeps growing the way it has. But it will take more than one good season. It will have to build slowly over a decade or more of consistent winning. A tough challenge for sure....
