....now want Matt Ruhle fired. This is what many of the bozos on this board are calling for PSU (similarly long list for USC since Pete Carroll.... Free shoes since Jimbo Fischer...... Florida since Urban Meyer......... Miami.......... etc., etc., etc.....).

PSU would be stupid to not at least try Terry Smith - they can always go the other way and blow hundreds of millions of dollars with no better results whenever they want.

People are also ignorin

What about the FSU, USC, Miami, LSU, Florida..... etc., etc. etc.... carousels? Do they count as good reference points
Yes... We were fortunate to have O'Brien and Franklin. Most schools including Oklahoma and Alabama cycle for years. We are now headed for that with a $700 MM stadium funding time bomb ticking. Kraft is in a boat load of hurt right now no matter what he does.

Mr Marshmallow in the white puff jacket has a tough decision. I don’t think that he ever considered that Terry would present so formidably. He should have been advised up front to not under estimate Terry.

Not that I have much confidence in Mr Marshmallow but now he has the inevitable and serious blowback that will come along by not hiring Terry if that is the path he chooses.

If he doesn’t hit the home run, then many will regret not hiring the guy who was here and was right under your nose.

Im hoping Mr Marshmallow doesn’t melt.
he is in a sort of damage control mode right now., After Saturday night and the players and MRob and TB all saying Terry should get the nod, if Marshmallow (I won't bother with the Mr part) does not at least go through motions of interviewing him, giving the appearance of him being a true candidate the team would literally pack up and quit lock stock and barrel. Until they name this supposed secret big name coach who is off the radar but big n name and hire him, they have to keep Terry in play at least by appearances. I think he makes the most sense right now, based on how team playing and how they are responding to him. But Marshmallow seems to have other ideas.

LSU...3 national championships in the 2000s, so they're doing something right. Not a good reference.

FSU.... didn't fire Fisher he left on his own. Not a good reference

USC....Carroll left on his own. They fired Kiffin, but Kiffin wasn't putting up Solich type win percentages, so not a good reference.

Miami....Miami was always been a carousel even with successful coaches...6 years seems to be the sell by date in Dade County, so not a good reference.

Florida....are we talking Muschamp? Because again, he was not putting up Solich type win percentages.

So really when you are talking about getting rid of a truly successful coach for something better, it's
Georgia...worked out really well
Nebraska.. worked out pretty poorly
Penn State....we'll see

Brent Key, Ryan Day, Sherrone Moore and many other top assistants made HC after the prior HC is gone had ZERO Collegiate Head Coaching experience at any level prior to being named HC of their current programs - again ZERO COLLEGIATE HC EXPERIENCE at any level prior to being named the HC of their respective P4 Programs.
I have always thought that if Kraft was actually limiting himself to coaches with head coaching experience he was our of his mind. To that end I still want Hartline over Smith. But if not Hartline, Smith.
