It doesn't work that way though--not all 10-2s are equal
Until we get a super conference where playoff bids are predetermined based on criteria this will always happen
Notre Dame, BYU, Miami, Alabama, Texas and Vanderbilt all failed to take care of business and now it's up to the committee--that's on them
Let's not forget Miami didn't play UVa or Duke either--they had about the easiest schedule possible
Miami beat four teams that were ranked at the time they played them and an SEC team. ND beat two teams ranked at the time they played them and both were ranked in the 20’s. Their schedules were very comparable and Miami beat them. Should be a no brainer and it would be if it wasn’t ND.

Who cares if someone was ranked when they played them?
Does Oregon get credit for beating us? They shouldn't
Again, I want Miami in over ND but you have to look at the whole resume. ND has great losses and no quality wins. Miami was 1 top 15 win and 2 bad losses. Either option is bad. Texas is more deserving than both honestly.

Looking at the whole resume should put Miami in. ND didn’t have some kind of killer schedule either. Losing to Louisville is not a bad loss. And no team should get in for having no good wins but two good losses. Are these moral victory playoffs? Once again we will not agree on this, so I’m out.

Losing to Louisville is a bad loss. You can't lose to two 8-4 ACC teams and cry if you're left out.
I'm not saying ND or Miami should be in--both should be out for Texas--SOS has to matter

Then JMU shouldn’t get in….or any G5 team for that matter.

One rube's seeding and matchups:

Byes:
1 Indiana
2 Ohio State
3 Georgia
4 Texas Tech

12 JMU at 5 Texas A&M
11 Tulane at 6 Oregon
10 Notre Dame at 7 Ole Miss
9 Oklahoma at 8 Miami

I originally had Ole Miss at 6 and ND at 9 but maneuvered the seedings so there were no rematches in the first round (Ole Miss walloped Tulane 45-10 in September). I think the big argument may be between Alabama & Notre Dame since Miami beat ND and smacked the same FSU team that hammered Bama in Week 1.

They’re already making the argument for Bama saying you can’t penalize a team for playing and losing in a conference championship game….Virginia says hold my beer.

I'd be shocked it Oklahoma falls...they're 8 now. I'm guessing they stay 8 with ND at 9 and Bama at 10. BYU will be first out then Miami...so thye can say Miami wasn't comparable.

Should be interesting though...I'm hoping you're right and Bama is left out so CCGs die

Not really though. UVA wasn’t “in” before the ACCC - they were only “in” as a projected ACC champion. That’s not “penalizing” them for losing, it’s just them not getting a boost for winning.

I think Notre Dump gets in at #9, Bama at #10. Dropping to 10 is Bama's punishment for that poor performance. They can't now change their tune about ND and Miami when neither one played. It's a shame that the head to head is ignored but I am pretty confident this the way it will go down.

They need to simply take the top 12 teams even if that means the B10 and SEC comprise 10 of the 12 spots.

DOOK. o_O ‘s QB can’t even spell his name. Mensa. For f*ck”s sake.
Go ahead and mock Dook all you want, theGlov, uh…I mean Bob. But they won the ACC championship AND beat Michigan State in hoops - in Lansing - in the same day. Not too shabby.

I’m compensating because I didn’t go to college. I went to State.

lol, thanks.

I went to bed at halftime and here I am fresh as a daisy not believing what I’m reading. Ohio State loses? Duke wins? Too bad about Virginia, some of my cousins are really despondent today. Wow, a huge opportunity for Virginia, hard to come back from a blow like that.

Good thread, kudos to all those who participated. Kudos, too, to the OP for not introducing any math.

Duke is a Conference champion - for the first time since 1989, when I was skinny, had a Camaro IROC and wore distressed jeans.

Indiana is Big Ten Champions -first time since 1967, when I was 2 years old. They will be ranked #1 in the country - for the first time ever. They beat Ohio State for the first time since 1988, when I was perusing car magazines in search of that Camaro Iroc.

Vanderbilt had their first 10 win season - ever. Two years ago they had 10 losses. They just got a committment from the #1 QB in the country and 3rd overall recruit.

Penn State is playing a bowl game in December. At noon. In the Bronx. And they just hired a coach who was born when I was a freshman in high school.

Yet the championship game will still likely be Ohio State vs Georgia…the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Doubtful--they're going to be on the same side of the bracket unless the committee drop Ohio State to 4 which seems highly unlikely.

Ok, Mr. Perfect, how about this….the winner will likely be Ohio State or Georgia. Does that make your life better? Good lord, it was an off the cuff comment pointing out the football powers in the end are likely still the football powers not an argument in a debate competition. Were you someone’s wife in a previous life?

Simply stated it was doubtful due to the likely draw...not sure why had a mental break over that..your wife leave you or something?

I've mentioned through the years I grew up in a huge ND home. Mom from South bend, Dad double domer, two uncles, cousin captain of women's swim team (don't hate me for this... Hate me for other reasons).

However, I'm kind of pulling for ND to be left out for no other reason than to force them into a conference. Doubt it would be Big ten, that ship left port decades ago. Maybe ACC.

Irregardlessless... They need to be subjected to same playing field as the rest.

If my wife was as argumentative as you, I would have left her years ago. You have this incessant need to prove you’re the smartest guy in the room in every thread when you’re just sitting on your couch watching like the rest of us. If I posted I was so hungry I could eat a horse, you would respond and say you can’t eat a horse because the bones are indigestible.

Dude, people make personal arguments against you because you make personal arguments against them. “Not sure why…” nobody’s buying that.

I actually agree with, I’d say, 90-95% of your takes and was at first mystified at why people seemed to have issues with you. In time it became pretty clear. Just saying.

You’re a huge outlier on this board in terms of attacking people. Zero reason for this to be the case. What does anyone get out of it? Not a damn thing.

So, when you say something incorrect your wife just pretends you're right so she doesn't hurt your ego? Sounds like a great marriage man. Thankfully my wife isn't afraid to tell me i'm wrong.
Awful example about eating a horse--you said Georgia and Ohio State will play in the title game--simply "corrected" that due to the likely bracket and even prefaced that by saying it was possible though doubtful.

I never attack anyone until they attack me--notice his response to me was "Were you someone’s wife in a previous life?" hence my response.
I get along fine with those that aren't looking simply to attack
If they attack me, I'll respond in kind but I don't ever start it.

They will make sure if there’s an OSU vs Indiana rematch it is not in the final, so yep, no way OSU gets the #4.

I surprised when Ohio State had fourth and one inside the 15 late in the game that they didn’t go for the first down conversion and the win. I chat GPTd the analytics and it favored going for it, especially with the Ohio State offense.
Better than 70-75% chance of conversion of the first down .
odds of winning going for it- 52-60%
odds of winning after FG - 40-46%
Play calling for the OSU offense was not stellar . We missed a bullet with that Hartline guy .
😝.

They played one team that is currently ranked.
and an SEC team.
Haha, write it like that as it means way more than it is. They beat 4-8 UF.

Why are you only comparing Miami against a single team (ND) using a single game outcome? What about OU, Vandy, BYU, Bama, Texas, and Utah? All those teams require consideration and the use of consistent factors to make a ranking determination.

That was a chip shot and he missed it badly. I said before the gamecstarted that if OSU couldn't effectively run the football they'd lose. Their run game has not been sufficient.

duhO$U repeatedly choked in that game - especially when you consider what their being paid to make simple plays (Sayin repeatedly choked - know what I'm saying?). duhO$U isn't getting what they paid for LMAO. I could easily see duhO$U losing in the 1st RD - would love to see it. Did you see all their lame-O fans crying in their beers as duhO$U's Offense choked again, again and again... laying egg, after egg, after egg. duhO$U had a grand total of 58 rushing yards on 26 attempts.... and scored a grand total of 10 points (oh yea, Day went for it on a 4th & 1 from the 5 on the drive before rather than kick a game tying FG.... duyO$U choked. Our fans would be all over the board talking about what a horrid decision this was.... Day doesn't know wtf he's doing..... blah, blah, blah). Add it up any way you like, duhO$U has the most expensive roster in CFB and they came up small on their last two drives choking both times LMAO. couldn't happen to a better bunch of classless douchebags.

It may well be both Miami and ND in and Bama out after Bama got boat-raced by the only good win they had. I don't see them putting a 5th SEC team in who has 3 losses. Alabama went into weekend 1 spot in front of ND at #9 - absurd to think that they are going to remain in front of ND in Final CFP Rankings after just getting blown out by UGa and only put up 200 yards of Total Offense and 7 points in the game (this after a really ugly loss to a really bad F$U at start of season and another bad loss to Oklahoma down the stretch when they had their own destiny in their hands). Isn't happening - ND is moving ahead of Alabama in the Final CFP Poll (Tulane and JMU are automatically in) and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they give the final spot to Miami by moving them from current #12 to #10 right behind ND who will move to #9 - Bama's current spot (Miami would be the only ACC team in) and Bama drops two spots to #11 but misses out because both Tulane and JMU are guaranteed in.
