My oldest is just starting to figure it out. Last year we took her to the loss in Omaha....she had a blast but was sad with the outcome. This year she blossomed into a full-fledged eight-year-old fan. Some of my best memories of the season have been watching most of the games with her.
Like your kids, she was sad tonight. When I left her room at bedtime, she stopped me and said she can’t wait for next year. And guess what? I can’t either. And I can’t wait to watch with her again. Her and I bonded a lot over Duke basketball this season. My hope was to be sitting in U.S. Bank Stadium with her next Monday watching Duke. That’s why I feel bad tonight....because I know it’s not happening.
I’m going to go to the Nike Hoop Summit on April 11 or 12. Carey and Vernon are both playing I think.
Well, I know Duke won’t be there, but you can still take her on Monday if you want. Those two tickets are yours if you still want them. I totally get it if you don’t. I’m kind of dreading it now, but I’m hoping that’s cause Duke just lost and it’ll get better as the week goes along.
I don’t know. We have high standards. I’ll need some resumes and at least three non-familial references.

I can't wait till my little girl is old enough to watch it with me(well, I can but you know what I mean), it's gonna be awesome. I feel bad for yours, knowing how tough it is on us who have been watching for years, it's gotta suck for a little one just getting into it.

It will give you a whole new perspective. I promise. I hate that we lost....but I hate it more that she was sad about it. Being eight, she still thinks her dad is cool and wanted to hang out and watch with me. There’s no value on something like that. None.
I've hated seeing all the seniors leave that I've watched. Scheyer, Smith, Singler, ZOUBS!!!! The Plumthrees, Grayson, Hariston,Thorton, Quinn, Amile...I could go on. And it sucks, sucks so hard when great seniors don't get to leave on top. As great as our OADS have been, I really think I'm ready to start getting the 4 year guys again. Sure we won't be contenders every year but, their junior and senior seasons will be something to remember and, we get 4 years of them.

I imagine it will. The 2 short(really short, times flying now) years I've been a dad it has shined a whole new light on a bunch of things. Like anytime she's upset or distressed it just puts a strain on the heart that won't go away until I see her smile again. I hope your daughter didn't get too down, I know it sucks. Just remind her in 7 months you get to do it all again!!!
