Bro I feel your pain. My son, 13, was devastated. He’s a little older now to know and understand how special this team was. He cried for at least 10 minutes and my daughter 9 was trying to be the calming voice in our house last night. She will never stop thinking your cool. Feel bad for all the kids this morning who are tied to this board through us. We get to do this all over again next year.

I would suggest you not watch them.
Just wanted to watch the FF with the kids next week and be all amped up, we won't get that chance now. We live, eat & breathe hoops in our family between rec, school & travel ball. Today is a tough day.

Accurate! JJ will always be my favorite Duke player. Watching him play his last game and watching him hug Coach K on his final way out was a very tough moment for me also.

Selfishly I hope more guys stick around so when K pursues these one year guys, there’s leadership to guide the way (like Cook and Amile). Good posts about the parent/child fandom; my daughter is still upset this morning but it’s a great learning experience in that it’s more about the ride than the finish in some cases.
Curious to see if Bolden sticks around considering the 4 Freshmen are gone? He and Vernon could be a load in the paint next year with Boogie, AOC, and Baker drilling 3’s.
Lastly, @Dad2ze we do need to vote on @pisgah101 - that Houdini trick don’t work for me!

I generally watch by myself because I am a crazy person. Last night right after the game my oldest daughter (7) came into the basement and sat down beside me and I switched to the stupid game show Ellen hosts and we watched that. I immediately felt better just being there with her - some immediate perspective.
Can't get real excited about another year of OAD's. Was not all that upset with the loss to MSU because, as sad as I am to say it, the better TEAM won.
Well, I forgot to update the Zion Dunk Tracker thread (and I don't like leaving unfinished business), so I stopped in to to address that problem. Not sure if I have the correct total on it, so if somebody does (Dadz, Bueller...anyone, anyone) then feel free to correct it.
And yeah, Sky, I might stop-in a time or two here and there over the next 4 or 5 months, but I'm pretty much outta here for awhile. Need to take care of a few things (haha...quite a bit really), and to just take stock of my life in general.

It's really sad and disappointing b/c Zion was so amazing. Can't believe we are not in the FF with this team.
Not as bad as 1999. My son was 10, we went to a Duke home game that year. He had his face painted for the Championship game. Cried his eyes out. But, thankfully, 2001 came quickly and that was probably the happiest I've ever been b/c I got to experience the title with my son who was then 12. We also went to a game at Cameron that year and to the tournament games in the regional.
I think the real disappointment this year is that there's never been a player like Zion in CBB, let alone Duke, and we wasted that. And what a likable kid (both he and Barrett are on a personal level). Frustrating to say the least.

Yup, same boat. I know myself. Just like many of you I am pretty fanatical and I get totally bummed when we lose our last game. It will take me a few days to get past it, and then a whole new wave of grief will come thru during the final four and championship. It's what I do.
But like above, my 14 year old has become more and more of a Duke fan over the years, and I didn't realize just how invested he was in this team until the end of the game last night when he shed some tears on the couch. It was an odd son/dad bonding moment.
Man it seems like the 2019-20 season is 50 years away.

Things could be a lot worse. The cheaters still could be in it. They are silent also with the exception of a couple of face book posters putting up the pic of Coach K cutting down the nets and it's captioned "April's Fool." Can you believe how stupid that is. I really don't think they realized that the cheaters were already home when we lost. As bad as feeling that it was to get beat it was a great feeling to see the cheaters get busted. OFC
