Is he a guard?? We need speed! From his bio: " intends to major in health sciences at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with plans to become an orthopedic surgeon."

I would guess not but likely to a Grad program that sets him up for entrance to Med school Have to imagine that a Grad degree from NU would be pretty helpful there since I do not know that an undergrad degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi carries that much weightSo....he is to be admitted to Northwestern Medical School for his grad program in addition to the hoops thing.

Good stuff Ben, thanks!Hey guys, Ben Parker from Cal Rivals here. Kareem South just told me: “I’ll be visiting Northwestern this week and I would like to make a decision before the end of the month.” He’s already visited Cal, which he described as “great.” Hard to know where he’s leaning, but schools that get the last visit often win the recruiting battle. It doesn’t appear like Vanderbilt is still in play. Looks like Cal or Northwestern. Should be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
I am sure that the kid would still need high MCATs and GPA. Just saying that the NU Grad degree could add that little more weight that an undergrad degree from TAM Corpus Christi likely would not. Lot of time final spots at given based on fine linesA grad degree from NU won’t either for med school since grad programs are often graded too easily. But if he has a good GPA, excellence board scores, the basketball background will help him stand out among a large group of GPA 3.9/34 MCAT folks. Top schools anyway are loath to let in someone without the scores because it lowers their US News rankings.
Just looking at Cal's roster...they have fifth-year, 4* PG who started every game last year and averaged over 34 minutes a game. And they have a 4* PG recruit coming in.
Not sure what sort of minutes another PG could expect.
Isn't South a combo guard? What does their 2G situation look like?
We will grab em! Getting late though.two upper classmen who together averaged 44 mins. and a talented recruit coming in
across the two teams, the biggest hole is the NU PG spot

Are you sure about this Medill? I saw their starting SG transferred to SMU. It doesn’t look like a lot returning to me and South should be able to hold his own and then some against an incoming recruit. I believe their is a huge opportunity at Cal.
In addition their top scorer is transferring. All this from a 8-23 team. I think he’ll have more opportunity to play at Cal than even NU. However, Cal would seem to be a train wreck.
Kind of ironic for a fan of the team that finished dead dog last and lost its 2 best players to graduation to call another team a train wreck. However, Cal would seem to be a train wreck.
Did you ever watch a Cal game? No way you would make from start to finish. We looked like the Golden State Warriors next to them. I don’t expect NU to be good next year, but NU would clobber this team.Kind of ironic for a fan of the team that finished dead dog last and lost its 2 best players to graduation to call another team a train wreck.
I guess it takes one to know one.
Well, so much for that! Suspect he isn't the only one of the many available grad transfers we are soeaking with, though...

Yup, and see how quickly we filled one of those slots already with a grad transfer?. On sxholarships, we moved ahead of several teams in the March-May timeframe due to net players losses by other teams and a net gain by us. Even this vaunted Illinois wait-til-next-year juggernaut that I keep hearing about lost two players during that timeframe and only gained one (and possibly zero, since the one player in question missed signing his LOI, so grades can still be an issue).Well, it's no longer MAY........
Well, this year is a rebuilding one, so I don't know what effect the I told you so's would have. I am already resigned to a single poor season, followed by several good ones as our unprecedented recruiting teajectory bears fruit. Remember those back-to-back Fitz 5-7 seasons? I don't either...Mr Glass Half Full
I’m sitting on my damn thumbs waiting. Either great things will unfold rapidly or the I told you so’s will start to flow.
Make me feel better? As a fan, no. As a target here, yes.
Last season wasn't a poor season?? More like consecutive poor seasons if your really want to be accurate.....I am already resigned to a single poor season,

And I actually LIKE being a glass half full guy in general. Has served me well in life...especially this week when I conducted an amateur version of Storm Chasers in my business travels How are things with you?

I give Collins and staff a pass on the 2017-18 season. There was so much hype around the Cats coming off their historic NCAA season. I don't think the team or the staff knew how to deal with it. Complacency was a huge issue, but it was a bunch of 19-22 year old kids experiencing the ESPYs and having Clark Kellogg pick them for the Final 4. Gotta cut them some slack.Try two consecutive, unexpectedly poor seasons. This third one will be different only it will be expected.
Thinking we have 10 players on scholarship, counting the incoming freshman and the one transfer.Try two consecutive, unexpectedly poor seasons. This third one will be different only it will be expected.
If we can’t field more than nine legit players, I might have to take Mike’s bet. And if we suffer the NU injury curse - it will be a **** show. I wonder if I can petition for a fifth year of eligibility. CCC might need my old, white arse.

Doesn't matter-- always look forward!Last season wasn't a poor season?? More like consecutive poor seasons if your really want to be accurate.....
Uh, we lost our first and second string point guards playing in the toughest conferenxe on the country. Even MSU would have struggled if Cassius and Loyer were out...I give Collins and staff a pass on the 2017-18 season. There was so much hype around the Cats coming off their historic NCAA season. Last season, however, was supposed to be a "lessons learned" season where everyone was refocused on one game at a time. They probably played better than the previous year, but finishing last? Ugh.

Winning was the norm at Duke. I never saw Cameroon Arena explode when Duke was selected for the Tournament.Chris Collins, late of Duke and USA Basketball, has no idea how to deal with hype or success?
