I'm pretty sure he to a little longer to make North Carolina. Clearly the superior state.Correct.
He probably likes some places more than others though. Lol

And if the two teams do survive and meet up we will welcome y’all with open arms. Might even be a tailgate or two going on. We friendly folks down here in not so flat flatlands…Our conference is unusual down. We all knew Robbinsville would be down this year. With 370 kids we will always have a bad year about ever 5 years. 3, 4 or 5 wins in those down years
2006 2 wins I think
2011 3 wins I think
2016 4 wins think
2020?
We also have really good teams about every five years.
2009
2014 and 15.
2019 and 20.
Numbers are huge in football and Wrestling.
We over achieve for our enrollment. Not many can say that. In 2014 we was only larger than 12 football playing schools in the state. We are still that size but alot of schools have lost enrollment making us around 20th in state. ER and SMC should have some good battles the next three years. This year probably won't be one though.
The reason I want to be on the ER side of the bracket isn't because I think ER isn't good. I think ER is the favorite to win state. I want the chance to pull the upset and to see new teams but the main reason I'll keep to myself.
How’s ER in wrestling? Some good wrestling with Avery and Robbinsville in 1a.I’ve been around 1A my entire life, even saw Robbinsville play at Chatham Central. I’ve been to every school in the SMC including baseball games at Hiwasseee Dam and basketball at Highlands. Been to most 1A schools in the state actually, at least the traditional ones. Some charters no. There is nothing better than 1A and I’m so glad ER is going to get to experience it in all sports.
Not very strong, a good kid every now and then. How’s ER in wrestling? Some good wrestling with Avery and Robbinsville in 1a.
Won a lot of state titles back in 3A, some team and lots of individuals. Then basically HOF coach retired and moved on to teach at Myrtle Beach and it went so of average. Last year ER hired a great young coach fresh out of college, who lives and breathes it and coaches football as well. He’s the son of a long time coach who had success in I know football and baseball. You can tell it. He’s one of those young coaches you meet and think of he’s in it 30 years from now he will be a HOF coach. He did an amazing job this past season with mainly young kids. A 4A school came calling immediately but we were fortunate enough to keep him. I would think within a few years he will have ER as one of the top teams in the state. Of course we have to deal with Uwharrie Charter and their ability to get kids, but in the end that should make us elevate our program even more hopefully. How’s ER in wrestling? Back in 80s and 90s were very good. Last year was first year of new young coach and things are looking up. His numbers were greatly improved at a recent interest meeting. Wrestling seems to be all about the culture and he is trying to help that. Problem is the charter school that is in conference now. Seems like they attract a lot of up and coming wrestlers. How’s ER in wrestling? Some good wrestling with Avery and Robbinsville in 1a.

No doubt I thought I was reading my post and it was yoursStop posting at same time as me!!!!![]()
You got that right. And getting the youth club team and middle school going. 1A wrestling is a lot of fun. SMC always represents along with Mitchell etc.A solid coach is so important in wrestling.
Yeah should have mentioned Avery lol! Our former HOF coach is a graduate of Avery County!Robbinsville went 5 for 5 last year at state winning 106, 126, 182, 195, and 220. The 182 and 220 play football as well. The Williams at 182 probably best kid in the state at his weight.
Avery put 10 in the finals and won 4 I think. Their heavyweight going for his 4th title this year. Both will be really good again.
I would think softball is going to be very competitive with all they have back and coming up, not to mention just an outstanding coach. Baseball will be interesting come playoff time after that league slate. Basketball should be competitive on both sides. Should be a lot of fun.I'm interested to see how ER does in other sports. I'm a baseball guy and they have a third year coach in that however charter school has hurt local teams in that sport as well. Softball can compete on almost any level. Basketball will be interesting. Boys should be athletic. Girls will have to wait and see. With Hispanic influx soccer should be competitive.
Or heritage or mitchell hell I’m gonna throw those WHC boys out there. Then believe me when I tell you that you don’t wanna see Robbinsville, Murphy, Cherokee, Swain, or Andrews.
Good deal maybe we will get to meet up at a girls basketball game. Heritage should be pretty competitive this year themselves.I would think softball is going to be very competitive with all they have back and coming up, not to mention just an outstanding coach. Well gentlemen despite all the teams that Eastern definitely does not want to see, hopefully they will at least show up for these playoff games.Or heritage or mitchell hell I’m gonna throw those WHC boys out there.
Yeah I’ve followed them and Mitchell for years. The Cougars boys had a nice run recently as well.Good deal maybe we will get to meet up at a girls basketball game. Heritage should be pretty competitive this year themselves.
If any of these teams come we need to tailgate and these guys come eat and hang out. Need to get Deanna down here as well. Been a while since I’ve seen here.Well gentlemen despite all the teams that Eastern definitely does not want to see, hopefully they will at least show up for these playoff games.
If ER does get one seed safe travels to all...
Oh if Wildcats are lucky enough to score against any of these teams just wanted to give you a heads up...
There's a cannon...
It's kinda loud...
They have. Girls should have a 3 year run here themselves. Pretty good group. Very solid group.Yeah I’ve followed them and Mitchell for years. The Cougars boys had a nice run recently as well.
Absolutely. The adopted SMC teams.Or heritage or mitchell hell I’m gonna throw those WHC boys out there.
I’m a baseball guy too. Big into baseball.I'm interested to see how ER does in other sports. Mountain Heritage has a state championship caliber group for the next 3 years in softball. Shame is there is no support behind it and from what I’m hearing there are going to be several 3-4 off a two time babe Ruth state championship softball group not playing due to the situation. It’s a shame.I’m a baseball guy too. Big into baseball.
Saw Murphy girls roll Chatham Charter in the softball state playoffs last spring. Who’s looking strong out of the SMC in baseball this coming season? I know Murphy, Hayesville, Swain, Robbinsville have been goodI’m a baseball guy too. Big into baseball.
Wow that’s unfortunate. ER is lucky to have just a great coach and outstanding community support. They’ve been really strong in what has been a loaded 2A bracket. Won one state and lost in the finals a few years ago. Really had a shot the next spring but Covid hit. Hate to hear that for the girls at MH.Mountain Heritage has a state championship caliber group for the next 3 years in softball. Murphy should be strong, bring back a lot of starters and Rumfelt will be back, he missed basically all of last baseball season with the shoulder injury he got in the state championship football game. Murphy doesn't have the pitching to win it all but they'll score a lot of runs with their bats.I know Murphy, Hayesville, Swain, Robbinsville have been good
To Be honest it’s usually Hayesville and Murphy and then the rest. Although Robbinsville did beat Hayesville last year when they were sitting it’ll the drivers seat. Robbinsville has improved a little these last couple years. When I was in school (11-14), they were horrible and even before then. They seem to be improving a little more every year. Murphy is usually loaded. Hayesville the same. Andrews and swain are middle of the pack and Cherokee is below average.Saw Murphy girls roll Chatham Charter in the softball state playoffs last spring. We have the community support but that’s about it. And I’d say we have played yalls group over the years in travel ball. Ask any of those kids or parents if they have played a Yancey vipers team. But it is what it is. Shame when the girls recognize it so early on that they are done by their sophomore years.Wow that’s unfortunate. Will do some checking. But yes likely with travel ballWe have the community support but that’s about it. And I’d say we have played yalls group over the years in travel ball. Eastern Randolph will be tested as always in PAC7. Return most of team from last year (lost one starter to graduation). Orange/blue team always goes deep in 2A think they did really well last spring? (where do those players come from?) Providence Grove usually near top. Trinity and Wheatmore have good solid teams. OHHH almost forgot Southwestern Randolph has always been very good (dropping down from 3A this year). Only other 1A in conference is Uwharrie Charter (where do those players come from? wait I know the answer to that one).To Be honest it’s usually Hayesville and Murphy and then the rest. Really? I ain't even going to ask Lavette,,,Will do some checking
Lol I wasn’t trying to stir a pot there by saying that I just know our travel team finished one year 72–4 lost twice to the same two teams and we played everywhere from Knoxville to myrtle beach. Was just saying if a program had a group of girls that played some travel ball chances are we might have saw them.Eastern Randolph will be tested as always in PAC7. Last year they made playoffs was when baby boy was a senior 2018. 2017 won share of conference by splitting with orange/blue team. Since then teams have been young but should be a good team in spring.
If they make 1A playoffs might be a low seed but will be very well tested.
Really? I ain't even going to ask Lavette,,,
Go on with your bad self...![]()
I agree. Was a long freaking summer and part of fall lol multiple Saturdays drove to Johnson city or Kingsport for the first couple softball games then drove back to Yancey or Marion for my sons football game then back to Tn for semifinals and championship of the softball tournament lolI agree. Wow 76 gamesIncredible

Man I/m just giving Griddle a hard time. We know same people and often post same things. We were lucky to have a good group of parents. Myself and the head coach would get to the field to warm the girls up and couple parents would already have a spot set up with multiple canopies then usually set ours up along with having a couple coolers of waters and gatorades or powerades for the girls for the day. Made life so much easier. I will say this all of our players unless we had to pick up due to one being sick are currently MH players. That’s why it’s so depressing to see them deciding not to play.Man I/m just giving Griddle a hard time. We know same people and often post same things. I get it about travel. My daughter played from Va to Disney and we ran across girls her whole high school career.
Baby boy's team was coached by me from 9 until 15. I counted his senior year in high school that team had 11 players across 6 teams in conference that played with him. Five played/playing in college. Not to mention when he started showcase and then he started seeing boys from all across state.
Think that year girl went to Disney she played around 60 games.
76? dude that's a lot of tent toting...
