Lol, I can't read the future and Hartline might be great, but can't imagine you go to Florida, LSU, Auburn etc.. and this guy is leading any poll about being the next coach.
Maybe true but it’s not a poll for preferred candidate.

There were a lot of comments after Franklin was fired about how our fans are greedy and think way too highly of our program in comparison to others. I think these results do shed some light on that and show that most fans here maybe don’t think we’re as great of a program as those commenters would suggest.

That's part of it. With this said, it looks like Key has removed himself now.

Deductive reasoning says it is going to be Drinkwitz. I'm ok with that, but not thrilled
Yeah, you’re right that it looks like Key removed himself. I fear that the ones already at their alma mater’s are less likely to come to PSU. I am thinking that Drink and Brohm are the big targets, and Hartline and Diaz are the Plan B’s. I agree with you that I’m OK with Drink too, but realize he has the same illness that Franklin had here prior to the season - win 10 games but lose the big ones.

I'd rather take a chance with Bob Chesney (JMU) than Drinkwitz.
- Chesney attended college/played in PA
- Chesney already has HS contacts in the DMV and Pennsylvania
- Chesney has done very well after Cignetti poached the best JMU players
- Chesney would probably cost less money for a 4 year deal
- Maybe Chesney could convince the IU OC to join him @ PSU

Comments welcome.

The IU OC is Mike Shanahan, who is a former Pitt player.

He could be great but to me it’s too big of a jump. He has no Power 4 experience even as an assistant. There are more qualified candidates available. Not saying it wouldn’t work but would be a big gamble.

I think Key has the inside track, but if not him they should go with Chesney. He's a smart guy, more than makes up for Power 4 experience.

I agree it is a gamble but I am concerned the top choices might be fading.

From what has been reported Hartline has said that he would take the job if offered, but the job has not been offered. That tells me that Hartline is a fallback option. And if Kraft is forced to go the coordinator route, there will be more candidates vetted than just Hartline (e.g., Stein).

Elko is a pipe dream. If Louisville, Vandy, and GT are left out of the playoffs these coaches "could" be in play. I also would not dismiss Kraft vetting Group of Five coaches if he is ambivalent about what the final candidate pool looks like as he narrows the search. I am also interested in what the people holding the purse strings want.
They're not hiring a coach from OSU or who was at OSU.

Based on new contracts and retired coaches indicating they will stay retired, the list is smaller. Who is most likely to become our next head coach? I wanted to add Golesh, Brown and Sumrall, but the system stops at 10.
I voted for Brohm , but I am stunned that Hartline has that much support

I am hoping for Brohm at this point but still think it’s most likely Diaz or Drink. There is a lot more Hartline chatter out there today, so who knows.

And somewhere far in the dark background lurks JMU HC Bob Chesney. Let's do this!
He is probably the most intriguing candidate considering the career trajectory, but by far the riskiest for PSU as he lacks any power football experience. Cignetti had 17 years of power conference positional coach and recruiting coordinator experience, including at Bama before he took his first hc gig at IUP.
