It's all kind of confusing. I have tried figuring it out but finally got tired of trying. I just accept there are some smarter than me that can understand it. But then you would come on here explaining how Robbinsville only has 330 kids and what not like every year. The RPI will adjust after this week, WRH’s 3 losses pulled Clinton’s RPI down but ED has yet to play WRH and when they do win or lose their RPI goes down. Clinton’s oponents rank in East RPI: Midway #9,, Whiteville #10, WRH#11, Princeton #12,, West Blade, #17 and this is before tonight’s games. I don’t like the RPI but this is the way they’re going to seed teams so I’ll just have to live with it.
Wiz I watched the first half of your game and that #10 for you guys looked amazing. He stood out amongst all the players on the field.
He’s a great player.I spoke to him after the game, very nice humble young man surrounded by his family. He’s verbally committed to Florida.
Oh wow, that’s huge. It’s very rare that we get players that good. We have a lot of kids that get offers from the HBCU schools or D2 schools but not to many that get high D1 offers. Some kids get looks from schools like Ecu,Odu,etc but that’s about it.
#10 got offers from about everyone in the country before this season He’s 6’3” and 265 lbs. The guy can move. You may have seen the one time he carried the ball in the first half -65 yard TD and he’s a monster on defense; and there’s players and I do mean players all around him.
That's not how it works. Even it Clinton keeps winning If your opponents and your opponents opponents keep winning you will not gain in the RPI. It's all about winning. Previous losses are already included.

That what the board talk was about our win over WRH it actually devalued our RPI because they have 3losses lowering their winning %. It has to work the same for all teams or it’s not worth a nickleThe last 2 weeks of the season has an effect on everyone’s RPI. He’ll if you go to the nchsA site it changes daily. I can’t quite figure that out when the games are played weekly. Makes me wonder how are they going to figure out everyone’s RPI within 24 hours of the last regular seasons game? I know who beat who beat who, beat who down here and it needs to work the same for every team. It’s nit a question of is our RPI goes up but if someone else’s gies down. goes down The RPI is not factored in advance
The only way you can improve your position and move up in the RPI is to win your games and the teams above you in the ranking have to lose.
Everyone's RPI will increase if teams keep on winning.
Someone earlier put it best: If you want to have a high RPI rating, schedule and beat good teams who also schedule other good teams and win.
I do think wiz is right, partially anyway. Your OWP and OOWP is constantly changing. Therefore your RPI does as well. If not then first game of year at 0-0 records for both teams would be useless?
The key in RPI is to win your games, for the opponents you have defeated to win their games, and, for the opponents of your opponents to win their games. I don’t believe margin of victory plays as large a role with RPI as it does in Simmons Ratings.
Margin of victory is irrelevant I do believe. As is class of opponent, this being the only sticking point I personally have with current formula.
No margin of victiy has no relevance at all just win or lose. And even if you beat a team if it’s a 3or gorse loss team or worse you RPI goes down. I saw that happen just this week- look at last weeks RPI and compare it to now. It’s not just winning it’s who you play. For instance Clinton has already beaten a 3 loos WRzh, their RPI is affected by that. East Duplin had nit played WEH yet so their RPI has nit been affected but once they play this Friday win or lose their RPI will change
The RPI updates as teams enter their games into Max Preps. Some teams enter their info that night, some might enter the next day. I have even seen some teams not enter their info until the Monday following the game. That's why it is constantly changing. Usually when that last game is played, the NCHSAA wants everyone’s info entered as soon as possible so they can get everyone seeded.
When the playoffs begin it is better to look at the computer ratings ( Simmons, Massey, Calpreps) than the RPI seedings to determine who should be favored to win.
Just look at Shelby's RPI vs the Computers. Lots of teams with higher RPIs will go down to the Golden Lions in the playoffs.

I don’t have any faith in Simmons or Max Prep . I think they’re biased but I do think that Cal Prep is fairly accurate but for seeding purposes the association will use their RPI

Wizard is just mad due to folks saying that should East Duplin defeat Wrh, ED would be the number 1 seed ahead of his beloved horses. This is what he is So Upset over.
It just baffles me why the RPI used for playoff seeding is so misunderstood by some posters.
It is a FORMULA that is posted on the NCHSAA website and other sites for ALL to see.
If only one game is played on a Thursday or Monday night, it will cause changes with multiple teams in each classification ONCE the score is entered into Maxpreps. Its the same thing on Friday nights. The RPI will change as each score is entered into Maxpreps. I was watching it yesterday and there were a couple of games in all classifications that were not entered until late yesterday afternoon. Each time teams moved up and down based on the RPI.
The formula uses a teams winning percentage. Naturally, those teams who have less losses will have a higher winning percentage. The formula uses a teams opponents winning percentage. It should be easy to figure out that if a team plays a team with 0 wins or 1 wins, their RPI will not be as good compared to a team that has played teams with 0 losses, 1 loss or so on. Look at it objectively and in totality. It isnt hard to understand. RPI also factors in your opponents opponents winning percentage. Those teams play in a weak conference with other 0 wins and 1 win teams, it will affect your RPI.
At least with the RPI, the NCHSAA post the actual formula. The others sites do not. It is a COMPUTER model that those (Simmons, Calpreps) came up with on their own. I will point out that based on the success rate of both, that both sites are very good using whatever formula they have.
The NCHSAA has requested that all teams and conferences enter the scores and conference results asap after the last games are played on the last regular season playing date in all sports to help with the seeding process. Some schools are very good at this after each games while some are not. Again, there is no hidden agenda, no preconceived notions to "screw" a team or to be misleading in anyway.
All one has to do is do some research on the current playoff seeding procedures (again, on the NCHSAA website), look at the RPI formula (also posted in various locations) and see it objectively and not whine and moan about this or that simply as a result of the team you follow not being seeded TWO WEEKS before seeding Saturday where YOU think they should be.

Mule an example to that situation and there are other teams. (Really every team) RPI will changed based on who you playis WRH a 3 loss team . Clinton beat them soundly but that didn’t matter, defeating a 3 loss team potentially 4 loss team pulls down your RPI. It’s been factored in Clinton’s RPI because they’ve played already but ED doesn’t play until Friday so it has t been factored in yet. Win or lose it will pull their RPI down
Clinton jumped over Northesstern from 3rd to second after this past weekeends play. All I can figure is Clinton’s opponents and oponent’s OpenTable must have performed better

Playing WRH is not the only factor into Clinton’s RPI. You have two other non conf games with teams that are 1-7. That’s not even looking at conference games.
those non-conference games have already been factored in Clinton RPI; everyone has 2 games left, to factor. It will be close!
