I just had a long conversation with Todd Greenwell (@adolph rollingover), who has coached football at various levels for 15 years. He's very plugged in with a lot of coaches across the country and is respected for his football savvy and ability to break things down. I would suggest you follow him on Twitter (right here).

I've broken this down into segments and the first is on Drew Barker. Greenwell talks about what he saw from Barker last year and why he's optimistic there will be good improvement in 2016.

Good read, with fair points made.If Barker doesn't make significant improvement over what we saw last year the Cats have a problem and he will spark yet another QB issue before the season is half way over.

The Gran vs Dawson write up spoke volumes I think,Dawson may have been a problem on several fronts last year.If that is the case then why did Stoops not see it before the hire, maybe he (Dawson) was a panic hire after too many others turned the job down.

There was a big drop off from the oc system last year... Complete chaos...
If neal brown would have stayed we win 7-8 games last year imo... I like this new offensive system.
Think we will have a solid offense..
How many wins that contributes to remains to be seen. But the offense will give us a chance to win games. The defense gave us a chance to win 8 games last year. Imo that will determine the outcome of the season..

Think stoops didnt have any proven OC left to pick from.. So i think he liked uwv system and took a shot at dawson working out.. Also think dawson will do better in a lower division league.. Sec will expose you very quick.. Gran/hinshaw already have the experience in the sec. Think they will do good here. Imo it all depends on stoops defense, ST, and game management.

That was my point,I think Stoops is a decent guy and I want to see him succeed here.He has caught several bad breaks here(some were his own doing, some were not)he (and we) are overdue for a few things to go our way.

As we all know this is a big year,I am glad Gran is here,I think he and Stoops will mesh much better than Stoops and Dawson. Barker is a big key,he has to step up if we are going to get close to where we need to be this season. I know this will be unpopular here but he will have to improve some to be as good as Towles was last year, that being said Gran gives him a good chance to be able to do that from both the offensive scheme and fundamental standpoints

The Dawson hire made sense with what WVU was doing.... just turns out that WVU fans were right, Dawson wasn't doing much for that offense and what he did here didn't look a lot like what WVU runs.

It's a shame brown didn't stay one more year or we didn't get gran last year. I think either of those things happen and this offseason is totally different.

The good thing for drew is he has a qb coach that seems to be able to coach up that position and his OC is experienced enough to put him in positions to make plays.

If Tate and young can get up to speed by week 1 and provide protection on the edge then I think drew will be serviceable this year. Probably a few great games and a few head scratches most being just solid outings. He has a great skill set but I'm not expecting too much this season. Lean on the run game and make the easy throws... move the chains. That would be world's better than last year.

If you like a short file review. This is the same starting offensive line in this game which started the Spring 2016 game.

here is a film review of the final drive by Barker in the 2016 Spring game.

Regardless of what this TG says & who he is, Barker will be improved due to the OC & QB coach hires.
