9 teams left. Wonder if they going to combine the Remains of the Valley division and River division and just be one conference of the odd number of teams at 9

OR -

- could they be looking at adding the Valleys to the river division and the Naperville's to the Valley division ;)? Or adding all 5 and then realigning both divisions?

If football is the primary driver of conference building (Dukane) conference leaving (long list of teams exiting conferences) and conference joining (long list of teams joining new conferences) then I don't think Upstate wants anything to do with the Valleys or Naperville's. When the Valleys were in the Upstate 8 valley division the only two football conference champions for that entire timeframe were either Neuqua or Dub V. From the remaining 9 schools I think West Aurora and South Elgin would have a shot to break up the rock pile at the top in specific years (like last years West Aurora team) but in most years in football you would see the usuall suspects at the top Neuqua and Dub V at the top along with the new adds NC and NN.

If football was not the primary driver of the decision but the Upstate wanted to align the conference divisions via football parity and also total sports offerings at all levels of play - then I think it would look like this

Conference 1:
Dub V
Neuqua
Metea
NC
NN
West Aurora.

Conference 2: the other 8 teams and a requirement in cross overs that West Aurora always plays East Aurora every year in Football to maintain their Rivalry.

i would love to see the above happen.

The 5 schools for football only could abstain from any crossovers with the other division of 8 teams ( if that is a concern on football with the other 8 schools) and the valleys and Naperville's and West Aurora just play themselves" for the 5 conference games.

Then they would have a juicy 4 non conference slots to fill. West could do their cross overs with East and other rivalries like South Elgin, and the DVC 5 could line up some interesting in state and out of state non con matchups in football. Too bad Oswego doesn't have any abilitiy to get a non con game with their current confernce of 10 teams. Dub V and Oswego had some great reoccurring non con football games in years past and I'd love to see the two schools get each other back on the football schedule!!

Heard Glenbard South is in play for Upstate 8 too. I'd love to see them get out of the Metro Suburban. Big fish in a small pond there besides one game against IC every year.

What impact do you think Glenbard South leaving the Metro will have on that conference?

I would bet this won't happen since GBS is only 1200 kids and atleast half of the remaining U8 schools are over 2500 kids. Even though the U8 schools arent athletic powerhouses neither is GBS so I don't see this being a good fit. Huntley is a better fit size wise but the remaining U8 teams have trouble fielding teams at all levels so I doubt they would move unless they were thrown out of their league.

Isn't it common knowledge that St Francis, Aurora Christian and Bishop Mac are joining the Metro and Glenbard South is leaving? I have been hearing that for a week down here in Kankakee County

I guess I was totally wrong GBS is having a community meeting on Wednesday so they can get feedback from parents about accepting the U8 invitation.

The remaining DVC schools also officially confirmed Oswego, OE and BB turned them down and they are out of options. They will be having a Principals meeting soon to figure out their next step.

Kevin Schmit with Daily Herald doing a great job covering this whole realignment mess, his twitter page is worth a follow.
