Meyer isn't a qb guru. He is a guy who helped create an offensive system that allows certain qbs to be very successful in college. Even so, his offenses have looked very mortal since he lost Dan Mullen as October.
Yes cardale was 3rd string and lead them in the championship. But cardale would've easily started for 99% of the NCAA. So let's not act like Meyer had some magic at work. He has really good players, which is also part of his job.
My biggest complaint is he talked cardale into coming back rather than letting the kid go at the very best time for his draft status. Who knows how many millions that cost cardale.

He should have went to the draft no doubt and I'm sure Meyers talked him into staying convincing him of a repeat.
As far as his ranking out of HS I remember reading he was a 3 star player. It's not like he was a 5 star out of HS. Towles, Barker, Ryan Mossawski, Morgan Newton all similiar or higher rankings. Just for the last several QB's we have had here.
Thier is no doubt they load up on talent so they can stash guys like him that have potential and try to build on their potential.
JT Barret was a 5.9 Braxton Miller was a 6.0 4 star and was a Heisman hopeful candidate along with their RB Elliott. I looked it up and Jones was a 5.7 recruit. We have had several QB's rated high as he was or higher.
Of course we have had injuries to some of our guys but so has Ohio St. Both those highly rated guys had injuries themselves.

Not everybody is going to do well if your a highly rated recruit I remember Mitch Mustain who went to Arkansas and then transferred to USC. He never did anything.
Look at it like this if your a recruit... a national recruit just looking at QB development over the last 3-4 years and you was looking at UK or Ohio St who would you chose just based off of performance? You could throw in Bama as well for the sake of a national power Ohio St or Bama?
kids know that its still a difficult task to go into a place and succeed even if you are a highly rated recruit.
