I posted this in 2022 and I'm posting it now. Why the F don't we go after a bona fide dominant coach and stop looking for legacy hires, fancy talkers, douche bags, and geriatric clowns.
If Urban Meyer were to get back into coaching, he won’t be coming to DONU. He‘s going somewhere where he can win right away. Not some place that is rebuilding and doesn’t have much talent.

Again fans need to understand we don’t have talent, yes some of it coaching and lack of development, our portal additions havent lived up to the expectations it’s also the media they blow up the kid and then they never preform to what we were told. Our last difference maker was Trey Palmer on offense and defense you have to go back to David the linebacker. Don’t tell the coaches can’t find talent, Dans was a pretty successful head coach. a lot of it luck, some coaches have the eye to spot talent, Dave VanHorne was great at finding a needle in a haystack. I think TO and several his assistant had the ability. Frank couldnt , Callihan couldn’t he was just a great recruiter bo didn’t . I don’t have the answers. Hiring a coach is a crap shoot, Rhule is known for building a program, say what you want but he took a dumpster fire in Baylor and turned them around. We are stuck with him through 2026, maybe he’ll improve maybe he’ll get fired , if that happens you’ll lose a lot of your team to the portal plus you lose your 27 recruiting class. we hire a new coach who brings some of his players with him, what happens if he isn’t lighting in a bottle like cignatte do we fire him mid season?

Who would you hire? Urban loves what he does now and has turned down all offers from programs and locations WAY more attractive than ours.

If the Oracle of Omaha was on board, we’d be unstoppable. But he isn’t and the coffer at NU isn’t as deep as the Top Football programs.
We have enough $$ to be signifantly better than we are. Way way better.

People would accept a few losses but you have yo look like a competant team amd the staff has to look like they know what they are doing on game day. We have neither currently. Its very obvious.

really they just need a Berkshire, Union Pacific, First National, and one other logo on the 4 columes at Memorial stadium,
and that would make more room for the florida , texas, california, georgia, ohio, etc. for Nebraska signs..probably get all 50 states in there.

I like how misery does their Walmart logo, looks classy..come to think about it Tyson food should be buying whole new olines and dlines..$20+ for a steak...talk about picking a mans pocket

I’m looking forward to see what portal additions come our way! We need a few difference makers at least!
It will not be enough.

We need 30 or more players. What great players will.come.here looking like we do with our staff on display? Maybe 1 or 2 for huge cash. Otherwise we will get others cast offs that were told are what we need. Just like the last 3 years. Hows that worked out?

The new GM is not going to help with talent eval. He's just managing money.

I can tell this narrative makes you feel better in the misery you’re living in of Nebraska football, but you cannot back it up with facts. It’s just your “feelings“. I have supplied data in the past and will do it for you again. As you can read below, Nebraska has under achieved greatly in developing classes that are better than many teams that beat us year in and year out.

Provide some evidence that we have lesser talent on the field other than your “feelings”. I’ll give you a spoiler alert, it doesn’t exist.

Big Ten Recruiting Rankings (10-Year Averages)

• Nebraska
• Big Ten Average Rank: 7.4 (consistently Top‑10 in the conference)
• National Average Rank: 25.2 (Top‑25 nationally)
• Performance: Despite strong recruiting, their 5-year winning percentage is just 39%, making them the league’s biggest underachiever relative to talent 1.

• Iowa
• Big Ten Average Rank: 9.6
• National Average Rank: 33.0
• Performance: With a 5-year win rate of 68%, Iowa has significantly outperformed its recruiting position 1.

• Minnesota
• Big Ten Average Rank: 13.0
• National Average Rank: 43.4
• Performance: Over the past five years, Minnesota has maintained a solid 59% winning rate, outperforming their mid-tier recruiting ranking 1.

Might not be a bad idea to hire a coach that has coached under the greatest of all time. Head coaches that have coached under Nick Saban currently account for 5 of the teams that are in the playoff this year. That’s not an accident or a coincidence.

We tried that with Frank.
