The list is very interesting. With the exception of Washington peaking in late in the top 10......there is a pretty common theme with the list. Can you guess what that might be....certainly US News will not point that out.

Almost complete demographic homogeneity.

Sort of like Sweden before they invited all the 3rd world muslims in...

I've been to Iowa a couple of times for work. If I had grown up in Iowa, the first thing on my "to do" list would be to do the things I needed in school to GTFO of Iowa as soon as I graduated. Not to pick on Iowa, because the same would go for the states in the surrounding region.

I have some Iowa stories
Was stationed at Offutt AFB across the river in NE for a while - arguably the most buck wild / careless / irresponsible period of my life......
