1) Not reallyRisky for sure, but I think the Muschamp hire has potential to work out. It'll all depend on the offensive coordinator and probably the quarterback. Whether you're Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops, Rich Brooks or Mark Stoops, you're only as good as a defensive-minded coach as your hires on the other side of the ball.
Wouldn't surprise me to see them go hard after Will Grier.
Somebody riddle me this, serious. If somebody fails at Florida, is it possible in any form or fashion to succeed at South Carolina? Worse recruiting ability, not as attractive of a name, worse recruiting, same division, etc.
Why they gave him that job, I'll never understand.

Muschamp would likely have done better going to a school in either a different conference. The fan expectations at SC may not be quite as bad as Florida, but that school has a proud tradition.
Kinda like Ron Zook part deux.
Not even close. Zook was a MUCH better head coach than Muschamp and was roughly as good when it came to recruiting. Both had control issues, but Muschamp's demeanor has been more "out-of-control".
There is a reason most major schools no longer promote head coaches, even from baseball, to be AD's. He had more time to hire a coach than any other school and failed to land his first 4 choices .... even with a search committee.
Do they?
USCe: 587-561-44 (.511) 8-12 (.400)
Vandy: 588-599-50 (.497) 4-2-1 (.643)
UK: 587-599-44 (.495) 8-6 (.571)
This year's USCe team performed much closer to their historical norm than their little stretch under Spurrier did.
As has both UK and Vandy throughout history, hence the comparison between USCe, Vandy, and UK. You must be looking for the board full of misguided fans that think a few good years makes one an SEC power, gamecockcentral.com maybe? UK and Vandy fans have no delusions of grandeur about what our historical relevance is.As did UK
Ray Tanner is a sunshine-pumper extroirdanaire to sell Muschamp to the USC fanbase. I'll be the first in line to eat crow if I'm wrong, but there's nothing to suggest he's going to turn things around in Columbia.
You will eat crow my friend!
1) Not really
2) Grier can't go SEC
Fair point on #2. No rule against him transferring SEC, but saw where McElwain restricted his release. Always a really upstanding move by a coach.
