I am just posting this as a general opinion, and I have no inside knowledge or anything. Just my opinion. For Malaysia Fulwiley Dawn Staley started recruiting her when she was in the 7th grade. So, it was an all in recruitment for Dawn as she saw the incredible athlete that she was. Dawn also had an incredible relationship with her parents. Everyone knew how Dawn ran things at USC so it should not have been a surprise to anyone on how Dawn ran her program. Of course, during this period of time NIL and the transfer portal came into play. All the players, coaches, staff were on the same page on the direction the program was in. So needless to say, at times Dawn let Malaysia run her Hollywood show and she put up with it to a degree. Then at other times it was getting to a point to where Malaysia was hurting the team with turnovers, making bad shots and rarely hitting a 3-point shot. So, for the team's sake Dawn had to sit her because she was hurting the team. Look at the national championship game she made turnover after turnover and making bad decisions. Dawn had no choice but to sit her. At the end like a lot of 18–22-year kids people get in their ears about taking the bag with more money. Read on several sites that some of her close people were getting in her ear. Also heard she did not want to go into the portal, but she was encouraged to by some of the people close to her. Also saw on one site where she was in a relationship with a track athlete. Not sure about that. What I saw. These are just my general viewpoints. I hate it but like the football coach at Tennessee said no one player is above the team. I agree with that statement, and I wish only the best for Malaysia and for USC women's basketball program.
