I think we have flourished lately with Dempsey playing more of a false 9 role. He has been great at holding the ball up and letting the outside wingers (Wood/Zardes/Pulisic) make runs toward goal. I'll say we lose to Colombia tonight 2-1 but beat Costa Rica and Paraguay to advance from the group.

As much crap as I give soccer, I'm always watching when it's games like this. Pretty cool that it's in our country this year.

at first I thought handball was harsh, but if it hit his right outstretched hand after left shoulder then ref has no choice but to give it.

If Can somehow get an early second half goal could put enough pressure to make it a game

Just so much wrong with tonight's performance....

I've waited, and waited, and waited...but JK is not the answer to managing the USMNT. By all means, please keep him involved in USSF, but not the manager. Every single player on the pitch today had a performance that was sub-par compared to their club form. Not just a few, but all of them.

Tactics --- wrong (hey, let's refuse to press a Colombian team that's just OK in possession)

Line-up --- wrong (hey, let's play a 4-3-3 without a true CF to occupy the CBs to create space for ????) (which leads me to the second hey, let's sit all three CMs deep)

Substitutions --- ummm (hey, down 2-0 at HT, let's wait until the 65th min to make a change)

Just not a lot to be confident about going forward with JK at the helm

Agree 100%....maybe the most uninspired performance in an international competition that I can remember from the USMNT.from the coach on down.

Just sloppy, unfocused and flat out stupid decisions for 90 minutes from everyone in white. And as mentioned Bradley and Bedoya probably the ring leaders last night in all these categories.

Has to get a whole whole lot better Tuesday across the board. If not, I would go with a complete youth movement in the final match just for the experience.

I didnt hear that, but wouldn't think so. Only the host nation gets auto qualified correct? Does the winner of the EURO's get a bid?

I am pretty sure the winner wins nothing. The winners of the other continental tournaments get into the Confederations Cup, but not this tournament.

My question is why wait? By far when Nagbe and Pulisic came in they were our best players....I could give two ***** if they can't buy alcohol. The biggest problem is we have guys now in Dempsey, Wood, Zardes and Pulisic that all make really creative, attacking runs....the prob is if our midfielders don't have 10 feet of space and 10 seconds to make a decision we can't hit the passes. We look like a high school team....two passes then a long ball we pray connects.....we have no build up play and no guys outside of our young ones that under pressure can push forward.....Bradley, Jones, Bedoya all play scared to death.

I'll watch big soccer games (World Cup, Olympics, this tournament) casually, so maybe it's not the best gauge when US is going up against a more talented country, but US soccer still constantly disappoints me. Nothing has changed in years and years from my (limited) point of view.

Watched last night and 8 mins in they're already down 1-0 on one of our players getting fooled by a pick easily on a corner kick? Seemed way too easy. I said I'd keep watching unless they got down 2-0 and sure enough they did not long after and I changed the channel.

Like I said, I know little about soccer, but every time I watch, it seems the US is out of sync, can't make a pass to someone in stride and they don't seem to have one player that has the skills that half the other team has. Maybe that's the main issue, but every time I give it a chance, I'm disappointed.

Let me tell ya, I'm praying for a France v. Germany final in Euros .... both are looking unstoppable and have 2 very differing styles of play

Talent man for man I may give France a nod .... especially on the attacking front. Giroud is sizzling hot, then you have Kingsley Coman, Payet, Pogba, Matuidi, Kante, Ben Arda, Griezmann.....hell they left off Lacazette and he had like almost 30 goals this year...

I love watching soccer. I usually watch 2-3 games a week. I also love playing FIFA online. What I can't stand is "football" (instead of soccer) wannabes from the US who use euro terms like pitch (instead of field), training (instead of practice), fitness (instead of in shape/out of shape), match or fixture (instead of game), form (instead of playing good/bad), table (instead of standings), pace (instead of speed), nil (instead of zero), etc. You should just go the extra mile and use the terms wanker, flat, bloke, bloody, arse, bollocks, etc. And yes I'm talking to you BigBlueSean...you're from Kentucky bud.
I do like nil. Nada would be better though. Why didn't you mention kits & boots? I think you lost on keeper vs, goalie. Still have trouble with listing the home team first on the scoring line & the counting time up thing forces one to know just a wee bit of math.

Costa Rica and Paraguay settle for a 0-0 draw. Good news for USA. Now just go win those 2 matches and move on to the next round.

Right?

With the draw yesterday, it doesn't make it mandatory that the US has to win both matches. They could advance with a win and a draw assuming that neither Paraguay or Costa Rica defeats Colombia.

But yes winning both puts them in free and clear with no goal differential or anything coming into play.

Preaching to the choir Sean, but now with yesterdays result it gives Klinsmann all the excuses in the world not to pull the trigger on the kids and stay with old (slow) guard.

Had always been a Bradley basher, but started to give him the benefit of the doubt after some solid play in the World Cup. But Friday night was definitely the Bradley I had come to loathe.

Bedoya and Jones, please somebody tell me what they bring to the table outside of eating up minutes probably better slotted to some one else. If they're our best options at their positions....yikes.

Who I wish we looked like play wise and in terms of overall progress recently bought is this Mexico team...

The fans at this game are loud as hell...
