Well things are very interesting now for Brazil with Dani Alves out of the world cup. Tite didn't rotate him much so no one really has too much experience. The obvious alternatives are Danilo (Man City) and Rafinha (Bayern Munich). Although I'm not too high on either of those. I do know the young star at AS Monaco, Fabinho can play RB as well as CDM and is excellent in defense, crossing and has size at RB that could come in handy at that position for aerial purposes. Alves was set to be their captain, and is the most decorated player trophy wise in the world with 38 total titles. Tough blow and hard to replace that kind of experience.

FCC rocked last night. Didn't want to be there imo.

Got beat up on the field and on the scoreboard. Weak effort.

With Louisville losing again, FCC is still in 1st, though.

Charleston and Pittsburgh have strong squads, too.

Should be an exciting race.

World Cup Preview: Group F

Germany
South Korea
Mexico
Sweden

We obviously know who is topping this group, Germany--- but the battle for 2nd should be VERY intriguing. I think Mexico comes to play against Germany and gets a point, but I worry about how Mexico plays against Sweden and South Korea. South Korea has some talent in Kim Min Jae, and Son from Tottenham as well as Yueng from Swansea, Park Joo Ho from Dortmund, as well as multiple players from FC Augsburg and Crystal Palace. I am a big fan of Chucky Lozano for Mexico and think he could be young player of the tournament if he is on form. Sweden is also a tough out as well with the likes of Forsberg and Lindelof. Should be a very competitive group with lots of goals, But ultimately, Mexico and Germany prevail.

Also, watched both prime time MLS games last night that consisted of Atlanta United v. Orlando City and NYCFC v. LAFC--- Phenomenal atmospheres and games! High quality games too. The product of MLS is really getting better.

FC Cincinnati signed a CBA with the neighborhood the new stadium will be built in and it was approved by city council. This "should" be the final piece of the puzzle for their bid.

But, after the recent challenges in Nashville and Miami, MLS may want to be 100% certain nothing is going to fall apart before offering a bid.

Just FYI, FS1 is doing a preview for all teams in world cup. It's currely on now and previewing Belgium and Costa Rica.

Belgium really might be the most talents 11 in the world:

Lukaku
Mertens, Hazard
Carrasco, DeBrunye, Witsel, Meunier
Vertonghen, Kompany, Alderweireld
Courtois

Bench:

Fellaini
Nainggolan
Thorgan Hazard
Christian Benteke
Divock Origi
Michy Batshuyai
Thomas Vermaleen
Moussa Dembele
Chadli

I mean that's stacked...

Guy at work followed it until I left work at 5:40 yesterday. Has to be more money forked over but he wasn't able to tell me how much in this hostage negotiation. Ironically FCC clobbered Detroit City 4-1 last night. Unless Detroit is somehow entering a different team for the MLS rights.

Dug up something on the FC stadium deal with the West End. They get $3 million over 30 years and are a full partner in the development now. The old agreement was around $1 million I believe.

BlueRaider, the new stadium will be in the West End, where the Taft HS football stadium currently sits if you are familiar with that area. Close to downtown in the Urban Core.

The new stadium in Cincy will also be in the $250M range. The owners are paying $200M for the actual stadium and city/state are chipping in what will probably end up being around $50M for the infrastructure. My guess is it will end up costing more.

jameslee, the Detroit City team that FCC beat last night has nothing to do with the brand new team that would be built if Detroit were to win the MLS bid. And that game actually went to extra time. It was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation before FCC woke up.

The main thing that the West End community "leaders" want is not to be priced out of their neighborhood when it gets nicer and more valuable, basically. That is why new low-cost housing is one of the main parts of the agreement.

They are not only building that stadium but they also have to build a new high school stadium to replace the one there now (which is rather new btw). Pretty crazy all the new owners agreed to.

has to be one of the more taxpayer-friendly stadium deals in the US.

As far as USMNT coach goes, there will likely be very little movement until the conclusion of the world cup. Naturally, some coaches will resign/be fired, thus making the pool a tad larger.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. Any tentative dates yet?

It won't happen at all unless the MLS picks Cincinnati.

There have been talks for Cincy to join the MLS as soon as next season and play the first year or 2 in Nippert while the new stadium is being built. For this to happen it pretty much has to be agreed upon in the next month or so.

Idk yet. I pay Cincinnati payroll taxes only but was concerned the city would be on the hook for the increased demands of the community but that doesn't look to be the case. So whatever the club and community agreed to is more of a relief to me.

That being said, the property tax deal the city will give the club could have a huge impact down the road if that area becomes very successful and it's taxes are eliminated, deferred or reduced. I know these taxes are part of the deal but it's not certain to me who is on the hook for it and for how long, 30 years? Does the city, the club, the league or the community own the new stadium?

The footprint is bigger than just a soccer stadium and adjacent businesses also have concerns for their futures.

Where's the stadium in Cincy going to be? And what cost?
If you continue north on I-75 past Paul Brown Stadium about 1.5-2 miles, it will be to the right north of downtown. Union Terminal Museum is to left/west. Pretty sure it will be quite visible from I-75, maybe a 1/2 mile east.

Umm false. France left 2-3 players off its WC roster that would easily make the first XI for Belgium.

Who?

France Snubs:

Dmitry Payet
Alexander Lacazette
Anthony Martial

Belgium Starts at their positions:

Dries Mertens
Romelu Lukaku
Eden Hazard
Yannick Carrasco

ADVANTAGE Belgium Players---- by a mile.

Love it - get the young guns in there. Hell our young'ins got a draw at Portugal when the old ones couldnt get a draw at Trinidad----

Guys I want to keep my eye on:

Novakovich - Had a phenomenal year - could be our version of Mandzukic
Sargent - Very good and talented striker
Green - Talented guy that needs to show improvement
McKennie- our future CDM
Parks - Very promising midfielder with Benfica
Weah - uber talented- just got 1st start for PSG
Antonee Robertson - I really like him for a RB/LB spot in the future.

I know Sargeant and Weah were there. Not sure about Nova. I have a buddy who lives in the Netherlands and he says Nova is the talk of that could try because how how he lit the 2nd division up. Almost 30 goals. Yeah had the goal of the tourney:

Finally, a Weah son that got a little something from the genes of his ballon d'or father lol.

Ultimately if we do right by our players and they develop, we could be looking at a golden age. We have a ton of very promising youth 21 and under that either have European club experience or have it in their future:

Pulisic*
Brooks*
Tyler Adams (linked with RB Leipzig)
Weston McKinney*
Cameron Carter Vickers*
Antonee Robertson*
Andy Carleton
DeAndre Yedlin*
Matt Miazga*
Keaton Parks*
Kellyn Acosta
Danny Acosta
Steffen (like him a ton at GK)
Hadji Wright*
Shaq Moore*
Kekutah Manneh
Ethan Horvath*
Tim Weah*
Josh Sargeant*
Bobby Wood*
Orrin Gaines*
Andrija Novakovich*
Luca De La Torre*
Lyndon Gooch*
Emerson Hyndman*
Kenny Saef*
Eric Palmer Brown*
Jese Gonzales
Julian Green*
Kyle Scott*
Klinnsman*
Brady Scott*
Gideon Zelalem*

* Denotes European experience at the likes of the following teams:

Dortmund, Hannover, Shalke, Wolfsburg, Ipswitch Town, Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Benfica, Levante, Club Brugge, Eintracht Frankfurt, PSG, Hamburg, SV Darmastadt 98, Fulham, BoudnemoBou, Anderlecht, Sunderland, Arsenal, Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen

If we can't make the next step with that group, we never will...

Oh, and that was a big 3-1 Win at unbeaten Pittsburgh in the US Open Cup last night. FCC rested several starters and still dominated a team that hadn’t even given up a single goal at home this season.

Saw that. The city, and then the West End community negotiations appear to be the stumbling blocks in hindsight.
https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sp...nashville-sacramento-detroit-miami/635835002/
Cincy community activist groups are always trying to shake down developers. Just last year another group tried to get $22M for allowing a $500M expansion of Children's Hospital - a huge employer & economic engine. It's why I'd never live in Cincy proper & most large cities. Just power-hungry money grubbers.

I hope they change their name. FCC is boring and has been done before (see the feds). I'd like to see them go with the "Queen City" moniker.

They have built an extremely successful brand. In the history of the USL, there has never been anything like the following they have. I would not change the name. Hopefully, they are allowed to keep the same color scheme as well.

The jersey sponsor will change from Toyota to something involving Mercy Health.

Well, then, hopefully they'll adopt a nickname.
