UT sucks, but calm your tits, you guys.

"There is no mandate or official policy to use the language. The information provided in our Office of Diversity and Inclusion newsletter was offered as a resource to our campus community on inclusive practices."

In other words, some token department that was created as a result of some ******** legal suit has written a letter and no one down there really cares.

Wow! In other shocking must hear it first news, Miley Cyrus has came out and claimed to be "pan sexual." Apparently, it's a quicker way to hell for her and another embarrassment to the guy who graced with the kentucky waterfall.

A pansexual (which still is stupid) identifies as someone who will have sex with anyone, anytime, anywhere. Only 2 things off limits, underage, and animals.

Not quite. It's someone who can be attracted to anyone, but is not necessarily attracted to anyone. It's like if you're a straight male, you're attracted to women, but not necessarily all women. If you're pansexual, you're can be attracted to anyone, but not necessarily everyone.

The headline of the article is WAY off. Nowhere did anyone say that they could not use male and female pronouns.

I work at a University and in certain departments/divisions, it is normal to introduce yourself at a meeting and then say your pronouns. In a very diverse working/educational environment, which Higher Education usually is, this is becoming more normal.

I've worked at a university for over 20 years and have never heard nor seen this practice. I guess I have it to look forward to.

Maybe I can claim to be a she and start using the women's locker room.

When you see stuff like this, it makes you just want the whole world to get swallowed up. Just turn off the lights. We effed everything up.

If you would have told me 10-15 years ago, this is where we would be, I'd say you were insane. No way this country would let these radical loons brainwash them to that extent. I was wrong.

Let's see

Bruce Jenner would be treated like a hero because he got boobs but kept his dick- check

Self loathing white people pandering to everyone non white and blaming whites for all of their issues- check

Be so effed up morally and sexually that you portray lunatic deviants as "normal" and "trendy" - check

Ban he or she or husband and wife because it hurts the feelings of a group of mentally ill people who make up less than 1% of this country - check

Completely be on board with making our Constitution into a mockery- check

Be silent on black on white violence, never mention it as a "hate crime" but then turn every time a criminal gets killed by a cop into a national story- check

Be an apologist for every country but our own- check

Have no sense of finances and wants to give the government even more power - check

Completely brainwash kids into buying into the liberal ideology all while being hostile and trying to silence anyone who disagrees with said ideology- check

This is really stupid. Please tell me what University system you belong to where faculty attends meetings and introduces themselves in the forms:

Bill Jackson, me
Jill Douglass, I
Mitch Barnhart, whoever

Dumbest damn thing I ever heard of. Want to know precisely where you work.

Go for it. I work in Student Affairs, so always a little different take on things when you work in that aspect of the university. A very quick google search shows Tennessee, Cal, Oregon, Wisconsin and American University as schools that promote this (Vancouver BC is doing it in all schools). To what degree they promote it, I have no idea.

In the 2 years that we have been doing this, I have use my pronouns maybe a handful of times and I work in the division that promotes it. It's honestly not that big of a deal.

I'm not surprised Wisconsin is on this list (Oregon is crazy liberal) because they are teaching in their university that saying, "If you work hard enough, you can accomplish anything" is actually a racist phrase. I believe they also handed out "white privilege" pamphlets too.

I work at the University of Oregon and agree it's very liberal. Here are some other schools I found real quick:

Wash U in St Louis
Wisconsin Milwaukee
Wisconsin Platville
University of Vermont
University of Colorado
University of Pittsburgh
George Washington University
Ohio University

University of Oregon. In meetings from time to time, you introduce yourself by saying. I'm ________, my prnouns are he, his and him.

Wouldn't a gender neutral thread be fun? Maybe a gender neutral forum? Maybe a general neutral sports program. Come to think of it, where is our gender neutral State University already?

Born in Kentucky, parents met at UK, diehard UK fan. My career path has taken me to George Washington University, University of Pennsylvania and now the University of Oregon. I worked in intercollegiate athletics at both GW and Penn and now run the Physical Education and Recreation facilites at Oregon. Our department falls under Student Affairs.

Also, just a note that I think there are much bigger things to worry about on college campuses than making sure we get pronouns right. I would be completely fine without it. It's a part of the culture I work in, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

So at the University of Oregon, would it be acceptable to introduce yourself at a meeting by saying this:

Bill Jackson, my pronouns may coincide with my natural existence

It's always the same with liberals, saying that there are much bigger things to worry about. I've worked in the energy sector my adult life. I've been on every continent on this globe (sans the bottom cold one), and I've seen that destructive harbinger over and over: there are bigger things to worry about. You can learn a lot when you finally step off of institutionalized grounds.

I think it would be completely acceptable to just say your name and not use your pronouns. It's not something you have to do.

Wouldn't not saying your pronouns be a micro-aggression towards those that do?

Nah. I have been in meetings where some say their pronouns and others don't. Again, I think the article blows it way out of context of how it really plays out.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I've worked at the University of Iowa for over 20 years. Grew up in KY, went to school at UK (also picked up a degree from Iowa). I'd love to be back at UK if it would work out.

So if you wish for your natural existence to determine your pronouns it is only acceptable to remain silent about it. Interesting.

What the hell are you talking about? That's correct, you don't have to clarify anything if you're using the pronouns that coincide with your natural born gender. You get to be the default setting. That's a good thing. Are you seriously whining and crying that you can't give a short speech about your beliefs? Start a blog about it or something. Christ.

dry your ****, woman. Obvious that being able to make a formal statement against the lunacy of a pronoun identification process was being suggested. Obvious also that such a statement would have been considered unacceptable. Estrogen ramp much?

Like I said, start a blog. If you want to be that tool in the orientation meeting who is pontificating about the sad state of affairs of this fine country, I'm sure you can. You just can't stop everyone around you from thinking "I wish this idiot would STFU so we could move on and get to lunch early."

Also, I don't consider being compared to a woman an insult. I feel bad for the women in your life if that's your go-to insult.

good lord, in the sensitive theme of this gender neutral thread, what reason do you have to conclude that I am not a woman?
