This team takes a lot of self composure to watch. Yikes. Utah looks like a mediocre team at best. Our post defense has been abysmal so far. Meanwhile, no offensive rhythm what so ever.

They ain't so bad! Utah made the NIT finals last year. Taylor needs to be better!

This may be the least skilled NU team in a looong time. I can't remember an NU team this bad on offense.

I like that the defensive effort level has picked up. They are still not communicating properly on switches, though. The refs are ridiculous, 9 - 5 foul differential. You kidding me?

Seriously, F off ref. This is some seriously one sided officiating.

Why on earth would you give the ball up top to Pardon with 4 seconds left? What the hell kind of offense is that? Come on Vic!!

They are driving to the basket and getting fouls. We just pass around the perimeter. Our guys are allergic to driving into the lane. The foul disparity is a function of how we're playing. Not bad officiating.

Fair enough. For those that know, is NU over-helping on D resulting in guys left far too open? Do they need to be helping that much out on the perimeter?

Law and Pardon are playing lights out! Taylor and Turner are finding their groove! Pretty solid team! Just make sure our bench can provide solid minutes. Looking great!

Seeing some things to like here in the 2nd half on offense. Obviously Law and Turner hitting 3s will always make this offense work. But, the two man game, posting up Gaines, and some guys trying to drive the ball are all promising signs.

Good energy in D, but not sure why guys are being left open in order to help.

Nice win in the end. Helps when they make shots. Clearly still a work in progress, but this team has pieces. Wish it had just one more very important piece.

Much better 2nd half after an extremely ragged first half (by both teams).

I noticed that the screamer's odd cousin (Ute fan) was in attendance. The screamer herself was clearly present at Ryan Field yesterday afternoon. I literally heard her on the other side of the stadium.

I missed the whole game and just checked the board. Hard to tell we won by 22!
Fair point. Most of the comments were from the first half, which was poorly played by both teams. Utes turned the ball over 13 times in the first half (often unforced) and we turned it over about 7 times.

In the second half we showed more discipline, shot the ball better and played better defense. Most of the second half was a 12-14 point lead until around 6 minutes to go.

This is the game where I saw (or thought I saw) a few things begin to pull together.

Much better second half. Actually kind of encouraging. I went for a walk with my wife so just now watched the replay. The offense was much better in the second. There actually was an offense! They were getting to the rim more and running some nice two-man plays that seemed to work. Shots were going down too which is always good in basketball!

Wonderful game by Pardon. Real strong post work. Nice all around game. Nice to see Gaines making a contribution.

That said, Utah threw this game away. 20 turnovers, most unforced errors. Overshadowed 14 turnovers by NU.

Kopp looking a bit lost out there. Didn’t miss Ash. Still want more Greer.

But they took care of biz. Big week ahead, think we will know much more about this team thereafter.

Hope the team decided to hit the beach this afternoon instead of flying back home tonight.
Yes, according to Collins after the game. Hope they didn't need to stay at an RV park.....

The team looked a lot better today, especially in the second half as people said. One thing I noticed while watching today was that Collins was riding Kopp hard. He must have high expectations for him, especially as a frosh. I heard a lot of “Miller!” shouts during the telecast. He wasn’t just pulling him and sticking him on the bench like last game.

In-game threads are the nut low. Same as football. Most rational posters don't even bother looking at them except for a few yuks postgame.

Agree. I never look at the threads during a game. Complete waste of time.
