Looks like those poor shooting PC guards are back to form tonight. It’s UVA 30-15 at the half. Welp.

Just too much stress on teens to study, hop on a plane, go through airports, hotels, and home crowds and biased refs! Enough negative energy for most hoop teams!

13.6% shooting percentage from 3.

Zone will be a necessary part of our toolkit in the B1G season for certain matchups and when we get into foul trouble. It needs to be worked on in game situations like last night. Cats played some zone tonight and it worked out just fine.

It's not the zone that's the problem. It was the open looks and the poor defensive rebounding. I know both are risks connected with playing zone. But it doesn't have to be the case if a team plays zone well. This year's team has the potential to do just that.

23.5% overall. Because Virginia plays ferociously good help defense where the opponent is given few wide open looks. Providence couldn't make many shots because they didn't have many wide open looks. They unfortunately had far too many wide open looks vs. NU because NU doesn't play zone effectively in long stretches. I don't think the Providence loss will be a "bad" loss, but the same team that handled NU relatively easily was absolutely wrecked by a solid but far-from-elite Virginia team.
