vanderbilt: must be "licking their chops"

I recall at the beginning of the season, the Vanderbilt quarterback said words to the effect that beating the gamecocks was a top priority.

Vanderbilt is coming off a big win on the road, the gamecocks have lots of defensive injuries,
the offense is struggling, and they have an unproven offensive coordinator . It has all the
elements for an upset. The good news is that Beamer is an offensive minded head coach.

Team will come in focused. Yes many injuries, but hopefully Cocks 2nd string is as good as Vandyā€™s first. That QB scares me, but think Cocks win on a late FG.

I am gonna blame the terrible start in the weather. But then again, I am an optimist. I think they will come in focused and ready after this last game. Donā€™t forget it was a win, against one of the better teams in their division!!

When a SC State team has a better 3rd down % and more yards in the game, it should be concerning. We had 3 drives we could have gone 90+yards, but we went 3-out. We also took a safety last weekend.

If that doesn't give you pause to say, "Hmm, are we really any good?" you haven't watched Gamecock football for 40 years like I have.

Iā€™m hoping this game mirrors the Ky game from a year ago.If you remember Carolina impressed no one last year until they broke out in that game.Hoping the same for Vandy this year.

Pavia went on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast over the summer and when asked which game he has circled, he answered Week 3 against South Carolina.

During an appearance on Taylor Lewan and Will Comptonā€˜s ā€œBussinā€™ with the Boysā€ podcast, Pavia revealed the matchup that he believes is most important for Vanderbilt this season.

ā€œI donā€™t wanna give the opponent any fuel,ā€ Pavia told Lewan when asked about which game is circled on his schedule. ā€œGame three [against South Carolina]. Iā€™ve got my brothers with me. Iā€™m good.ā€

I guess That matters more than the Final score?? I didnt realize that was part of the W/L record, Sorry.. So let me get this straight, SO if you go 12-0, but are outgained (by yardage) in 4 of those games, your official record is 8-4?? WOW that sux!!

This game is very important as far as rankings go.If we blow it we will be in a free fall.,,The feelings I have are the Gamecocks winning this is very iffy...BUT!!! My prediction is Cocks 31 Vandy 26

When you have two special teams TD's and only score 24 points against a Division 2 school, I think that's reason for concern. When LaNorris is sacked and pressured by SC State, that's another reason for concern. If this was against LSU and the score was 38-10, then I wouldn't say a word. These are the teams that you should beat by 50.
