Nashville has become a hot place for college age crowd. Party city. Also Vandy has maybe the richest boosters in the SEC. Now that they can buy players look out. Also they have better coaches than us in Football Basketball and baseball

Hopefully FB is about to change. Stein is young and hungry.

Basketball? Will see. Maybe Pope climbing BG is the turnaround

The thought of stokes at Vandy makes me laugh. Not because they can’t get him but because he’s not your typical Vandy player.

regardless I don’t expect him here. Never did. Same with Collins. Until this staff shows they can even land one elite player then I expect to whiff on them all.

I find it funny you post this on Kentucky's board why not just post it on vandys board, or will you not get any action over there.
Exactly. This was my first thought as well. Dude never posts here and then posts this. 😂 transparent as hell.

Bullshizz.

We just spent 22 million on a roster because we have a whole state that worships our program. You don't need billionaires in that scenario, just a bunch of millionaires who are willing to toss expendable money at a roster for the sheer love of it.

How could you even write that post with a straight face after what we spent on this roster? It's just a lame excuse. Good try though. We're not going to let it fly here anymore.
1) I don’t know what we spent, and I don’t necessarily believe the $22MM.
2) Vandy has a lot more high-dollar alumni than UK, and they can now legally give money to players while also (seemingly) lowering academic standards (see the football team as an example of a massive influx of talent in the past few years).
3) Be miserable all you want. I choose otherwise.

Why would Vanderbilt fans invest in the basketball program when they can invest in a great up and coming football program, especially after the sensational year they just had? I actually think that people like you just make up stuff about rich alumni at certain school and assume that those alumni are going to contribute to the basketball programs. We heard the same stuff about the major markets, that schools like UCLA were going to crush it in the portal because they were in the major cities. At the end of the day all of their alumni either don't care as much as Kentucky fans do collectively or they simply care about football more if they have a football program.

For a blue blood,, UK has 100% absolutely sucked this decade.. Double digit losses in 4/5 years soon to be 5/6.. That's a losing program by what we're supposed to be..
Have you seen the list of teams that have made the final 4 since us ? It’s depressing.

If Stokes goes to Vanderbilt......Mitch should be tossed out on his backside. Unceremoniously.

His NIL mgmt has KILLED us.
He’s doing what he’s been doing for years. People just weren’t waking up. Just like people not realizing what the NIL would mean. Happening nationally, people just don’t wake up and can’t smell the coffee.

Mitch has been dumbing UK down for years. He’s held us down in football intentionally. Expectations are very difficult on AD’s. He doesn’t want that.

He’s now moving to basketball and trying to limit success there. He’s tried to:

1. Retain Tubby when it was over for average
2. Hire Joe Gillispie Average
3. No to John Calipari
4. Hire Pope over a real search.

Mitch doesn’t want winning he wants to suck funds for the university out of our sports teams and in return he gets to maintain his job. He’s a hatchet man people, he’s been doing this for years. If at any time someone thought he was a good AD, please no to voting. Just my opinion. This was too easy to see years ago.

You do realize that Vandy has huge NIL potential due to having a lot of high-dollar alumni, right? A big UK problem is that we don’t have as many high-dollar alumni to donate to us as many other SEC schools. This is a money game now, and UK is a bit limited overall when it comes to NIL.
We have very rich boosters. Not every program literally has near multiple billionaire alumni WHO ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE. some have them but they’re not interested in sports. Arkansas has one that doesn’t give a dime to sports only the campus. Many more like that.

Your problem is Mitch Barnhart

hatchet. Man.

Anyone in the know will say and has said you can’t outspend UK in basketball. Now what our AD wants with that money? There’s your problem. He doesn’t want it going to these players like that. He’s in the way.

Oh I’m very ready for Mitch to go. But people are acting like losing a recruit in the NIL era to Vandy is some slap against UK isn’t realizing how much money Vandy is (apparently) throwing around to buy fb and bb teams. That’s all.

Not getting a big time recruit this cycle will be yet another nail in Popes tenure!

Vandy isn’t spending like that. I’ve seen no indication at all Vandy wants to get into that game. Vandy is full of academics. They’re not sports people. They could have put a ton of money in Vandy sports years and years ago and never have. The NIL didn’t just begin, teams have been paying for a while now. They didn’t just suddenly wake up and say boom!

I don’t know why they’re offering, maybe seeing that he’s on the take after UK has shot down and want to make a splash. But Vandy isn’t going to do anything they will be what they’ve always been.

Vandy has had wealthy Alumni for years. Most of all of them aren’t boosters. Again having wealthy alumni doesn’t help you. They have to be involved.

Also, NIL fatigue is beginning to show its head possibly. I know at Tennessee they’re having it said that many of their boosters are pulling back. It’s been said by several UT fans I’ve seen the last year. And when it’s said they go 8-4 so….

many people think NIL fatigue is real and will start to happen. We still haven’t seen this settle. Wealthy men aren’t wealthy because they throw away hundreds of millions on kids throwing footballs.

I can see it being all the rage for a few years with programs like UT. Haven’t been relative in decades. Suddenly you can buy a few playoffs and they jump and spend like it’s cocaine in the 80’s. Get blitzed by Alabama still, get killed in playoffs. This is after getting burned for millions on a player.

They realize to win how they want, gonna have to spend another 50 million. It’s not gonna happen. They’re already cooling down.

everyone thought UCLA being in LA was gonna surge back now. Nope.

Because just because they’ve got a ton of billionaire alumni doesn’t mean they’re sports boosters. Similar situation with Vandy. Those are not sports people. Tell a guy who couldn’t care less about Vanderbilt sports who’s from Ohio but took the Vandy scholarship he needs to give 5 million for vandy basketball. That’s not gonna work.

As long as the JMI thing isn’t a problem, nobody is going to pay for basketball like Kentucky. Long term our fanbase and our active billionaire booster alumni are going to offset this. People get too hung up on someone having rich boosters. If they’re not into sports they don’t matter. At Kentucky they’re into sports. And we own the entire state. Nobody else has that in basketball to this degree.

If Tipton really said that....ooooof.

“But Kentucky should like totally give Mark Pope another year to turn things around!”

How do you convince yourself that bringing him back without a single top 50 recruit and probably whiffing on every top portal transfer, aside for everyone’s bench player that wants to be paid a premium price similar to what other schools pay their NBA lottery-tier players, is going to end any differently than this year?

Rich alumni base with a very nice endowment, campus is in Nashville, football team that's actually decent... Honestly not surprised.

Your move Mitch/UK: What are you going to do to separate from the pack, and don't tell me free soft-serve.
Alumni base and endowment are the keys.
Can you imagine if Ivy League schools got serious about athletics ??

Idk if thats sarcasm lol. But thats kind of how Duke is doing it. Same with BYU (mostly because of fhe Jazz owner).

All it takes is a few uber-rich alumni who care about basketball and they can turn the team into contenders overnight. I said a while ago, the programs that have that could dominate this era of NIL.
