Seriously?

Yes, its the dumpiest stadium in the league....with Missouri a close 2nd.

Yes. it probably bleeds more money to maintain that revenue it produces.

But he cant be serious, if he thinks the Vandy administration, boosters et.al. are going to pony up for a whole new facility??

And as it says in article for anyone whos been there.....where the H' would you put it unless you demolish and rebuild on the same site. Then Vandy plays where for 2-3 years, Titans stadium? Tennessee State?

Almost has to take a UK approach, systematically replace all the bleachers with chairbacks and build suites above the bowl on side opposite press box

Voi'la ..."new" stadium.

doesn't the pro soccer team play there too? not sure what that draw is; Louisville's is enough that city considering building something for them and moving out of Slugger Field. Don't forget, they draw a lot of visitors for SEC games. I bet a deal could be done.

It would almost certainly be a scrape and rebuild job. Just guessing here but they can probably put a very nice 40,000 - 45,000 seat place on the same spot. Vandy has a number of very wealthy alums. i'm not sure "how" the school has touched them in the past for athletic infrastructure. They certainly would not use all endowment funds but their endowment is over $3B and might chip in something.

I recall TCU (small, private school with a wealthy fan base) did a $100M+ renovation (tore down and rebuilt one entire side) on the strength of about 12 or 13 donors. Baylor (another small private school) just built a new 45,000 seat venue (I don't know any financing details).

Peace

And kept playing in the stadium during it Just reduced seating for a couple years. That's seriously what Vandy could do. All fans on one side (with room left over), build half a stadium for a year, then switch.

Don't think Tennessee Titan stadium is an option. It's natural grass with Tennessee State already using it.

True, didn't think about the TCU stadium project. That's exactly what they should do, just that stadium is so wedged in on one side with baseball and basketball facilities in close proximity, they would almost have to tear down the current press box side just for available space for equipment and such.

And shame on me for not remembering TSU already plays at Titan Stadium....duh.

They could build a nice 35000 seat palace, indoors, with tv's built into each seat so people can watch something interesting.

Just go to the nearest park and have a couple sets of wooden bleachers. The others can bring chairs and have a nice day. That's about all they need for their horrid fan support.

Invest in some new classrooms. That is better than them throwing money down the drain or a pathetic football team.

The Baylor stadium is totally state of the art. At 45,000, it can be expanded to 55,000. It is covered over seats and air conditioned. There are suites as well. Located on the Brazos River, the stadium is next to the university. The principal donor is a Baylor alum and owner of the Houston Astros

I say they tear it down and play at the local middle school. They will still win at least 1 game a year (Us).
