Planning on staying at the Mirage and Aria...anybody ever been to either? By the way, you can download "myvegas slots" on your phone/facebook to earn points for free comps.

Not really Glenn, but since you gross $1200 a month, I can see why you think that.

Have only passed thru LV once
Just booked 4 days/3 nights w/Brandi at the end of Sept

If any of you whack jobs happen to be in that city between 9/28 and 10/1 --- ping me on here and we'll go throw couches off a bridge or something.......cards,......whatever........

I’ve been to Vegas around 15 times. I absolutely love it. I play numerous golf courses, eat at incredible restaurants, stay at The Wynn, which is phenomenal. I sit in the Sportsbook and drink and gamble on sports and horses. What’s not to like?

This. The Wynn was out-of-this-world crazy. I could have sat at their sportsbook all 4 days and would have had a blast. Amazing.

Also: I don't mind downtown, either. The Golden Nugget Shark Tank (yes a shark tank in the middle of the pool) pool area is very nice. Container Park is a neat part of Fremont. All of their stores are inside old shipping containers.

If you're going, spend the extra money or the nicer hotels.

Been there several times. Stayed at the MGM, the Mirage, the Bellagio, etc. Just stay sober enough to not feel bulletproof and thus lose all your money and keep your casino betting to blackjack [after you learn basic strategy] and a little slots and you'll be okay financially and have a blast otherwise.

This all only applies if you're not an idiot. Vegas makes its money off of sober [and drunk] idiots and drunk smart people who become idiots when drunk.

Planning on going mid-November, for the first time. I am considering the Luxor, price seems right, was going to upgrade to a 1 BR suite in the tower, but reviews are mixed. Anybody want to steer me one way or the other?

Stayed there. It is at the end of the strip so if you don't mind walking it's fine.

It's sports book was underwhelming. This was 15 years ago, though.

What's your budget? There are better options mid strip for not much more per night. Check out these 35% off deals that come with food/drink comps up to $150: http://www.mycheapvegas.com/hotels/strip/mirage/
Another good site to find deals: travelvegas.com

Most Paddock folks will be staying in Presidential Suites (even though they're looking to cut that devastating $150/mo cable bill in another thread) but if you're looking for inexpensive rooms in a good location, try Bally's or Harrah's. They're older hotels, but right in the middle of the strip. Save the extra money for gambling, dispensaries and whores.

Don't waste your first trip in Vegas staying at the Luxor...it's on the end of the strip where there's nothing. Easily a 30-45 minute walk to any Casino or Sportsbook worth visiting.

If you're on a budget, look at PH, Paris, Bally's, Harrah's, Flamingo, Linq, or Mirage -- all center strip & can be had most weekends for less than it costs to stay at a hotel in Lexington.

Still very confused with all the "adults" wearing costumes walking the strip. Do they expect a tip? Seems very creepy to me. Also, the people who bring their touching kids...great parenting. [eyeroll]

They want you to want to take a picture with them, and then after you've taken the picture they want you to give them a gratuity. Because, Vega$.

I dont think Vegas is expensive or over rated .. I think its great . FWIW my 87 Yesar old mom has made 39 trips , trying for 40 but her health just isnt up to it .. We stay at The D , formerly the fitzgerald , down town on Freemont St . There is a Thai place down the block at the end of Freemont that is very highly rated , and worth it . not really expensive either . Great Thai food . 100-200 yards down from the " fat people eat free " cheeseburger gimmick place. Vegas has soooooo much for everyone , how could you not like it ? Plus beating the cheats there 2 years in a VERY memorable game will always be a special memory .. BBN took over the place that weekend. Pure awesome marching out of there to the GBB chants while the cheats cried the blues .

No different than in Times Square...it's creepy. Always tell me kids to stay away.

Idiot tourists take pictures with them and the character than demands a tip.

Reread what this guy said about where to stay in Vegas if you are going for the first time. Walking is fun and all, but walking in Vegas is entirely different. Stay near all the action...

Last time I went, I discovered the double decker buses. $1 will get you from one end of the strip to another in 30 mins with stops in front of all of the major casinos/hotels. Highly recommend it.
