May have to spend a couple of nights downtown as well. Anybody ever stayed at Main Street Casino?

There is a good Thai place in a strip mall on W Flamingo Dr. Also Ricardo’s Mexican place out that way.

I stayed at the Luxor several years ago. It was nothing special and kinda far away from most of the action.

Wife and I are going out on Sep 8th for a few days as well. Staying at the Cosmopolitan.

For those that go often, is it better to get show tix before you go or once you get there?
Get tickets while here, there are several discount ticket places...check first before you leave cause show may have been sold out. Cosmo is beautiful, when checking in, when you give CC and License to receptionist place $20 bill in between. It will get you an upgrade or even maybe a bottle 9f champ...Enjoy yourselves. Definitely take a day to catch the sites on the strip. Fremont street is a must, do in the evening. There isTop Golf on southernest point of stripwhich avid players and beginners alike truly enjoy. Food options galore. Ask the concierge any other questions. Bring sunglasses!! Have fun and tip appropriately !!!
Nighttime is best time to cruise the strip. Always check out the bellagio fountain show in the evening, very romantic with the wife. If you have other questions ask on here

The $20 trick works at most every hotel during normal times. Not gonna work during huge conventions at the particular resort or other huge events.

And Crit. Stay away from the Luxor, walking in Vegas sucks. Everything looks closer than it is. Harrahs, Flamingo, Bally’s, Paris, Linq are all just as nice or better than the Luxor and much better location.

* Vegas is dirty and ****** (not like the old days when the mob ran it ). Dirty Mexicans handing you porn cards, street people, timeshare vampires hitting on you in casinos.

* Circus Circus is nice, I hear

Thanks for the tip on the $20 bill trick. Do you ask for an upgrade when you slip them the $20 or is it just assumed that's what you're tipping for?

It is assumed. They know what it is for. And most of them won’t keep if they can’t upgrade, in my experience anyway. The times they couldn’t they checked and gave it back to me.

If you want to read an interesting book about Vegas and learn a lot of it’s history and how it came to be then pick up SuperCasino by Pete Earley. It’s about Bob Stupak and his building of that Stratosphere but covers tons of history.

No way am I getting on that bus, regardless if it's only $1.

Been doing a little research and it sounds like Uber is the way to go because it's faster (less stops) and they drop you off closer to the hotel entrances rather than on the street where you have to walk 20 mins to get to the casino since they're set so far back from the street.

Last time I went there was no Uber, so we did the bus because cabs stuck and cost too much because of the traffic.

I don't use Uber tho. I use Lyft.

But usually just walk to get in the steps. Last time we were there we put in over 50K+ in 3 days.

@B.B.d.K. saw in GYERO some talk about the December Vegas trip... thoughts on Linq and Harrah’s? Saw a price for $20/night at Harrah’s and $26 at Bally’s and Linq (before the resort fees ) - wondering if you have any thoughts between those. Never stayed at any except Bally’s

Trying to just cut the room budget since it’ll basically just be a place to sleep and nothing else this trip

$20 trick rarely works at the upper tier resorts, if ever these days.

Shedding the Wynn in Dec for the games in lieu of the Palazzo. Hopefully it will measure up as the Wynn is off the charts amazing.

Linq is great, they're taking the lead on all sorts of things in and around their sportsbook, and it's right there on the Promenade. They recently knocked out the outer wall for their Sportsbar which opens onto the strip. I've averaged 3 trips a year for the last several years, and each time I go there is somthing new in that place. ESPN opening a gambling based studio there early 2020, which you'll begin to see in other casinos as well. Fun vibe, and perfect location. Rooms are super basic, if that matters to you.

Harrah's is fine in the updated tower, the new rooms are nice, and $20 & a smile gets you into a Jr Suite at minimum. Anywhere in that little center-strip area is my wheelhouse - only one I don't like of the Caesarss resorts is Bally's, b/c it's set off the strip a bit.

If I'm solo, I stay at Linq/Harrah/Flamingo (where I'll be in December) b/c I'm comped at all of them for any date w/ no resort fees (Diamond). I do most of my gambling at the Cromwell (3:2 on every table, and the best VP odds on the strip). Love the vibe in there, and they also have the best comped cocktails, imho.

I'm with the wife, it's Venetian (which I much prefer to the Palazzo) or Cosmo. I've got nothing for Wynn aside from the incredible restaurants (SW in particular), just way too isolated for my tastes, I'm bouncing around all over the place typically, and always save an evening/night for downtown - worship. That Circa is going to be :fire: when it's all done down there, will put the Westgate to shame per reports. They're releasing full slates of lines a week early already.

Rooms are dirt cheap for the UK dates no matter where you stay. Can't wait, has me itching to run out there for a random football weekend before December, we'll see.

^Thanks. Sounds like there’s not much of a difference in the three or the Flamingo too. I’ve stayed at Bally’s, Venetian, and TI before - just love the location you get in that little row of the Caesar’s properties. I’ll probably just grab harrah’s since it’s cheapest. Thanks for the Cromwell tip - pisses me off every time I see a 6:5.

It’ll be the first time my dad’s ever been out there and he’s SO excited - sending me articles, links, and all sorts of “best” lists - guess that’s how I was to him/mom as a kid with vacations and I kind of love it.

Pretty much. Every hotel on Caesars Row has at least one recently updated tower or room category -- for Harrah's, it's the Valley Tower & I found it very nice - the old rooms are apparently super ****, so make sure you book the correct one.

Flamingo, Cromwell, and Paris almost always have 2 $15 3:2 tables, and Cromwell typically has 4. TI is always reliable as well. Anywhere else it's going to be $25-$50 for a good game. The strip is a joke in that regard these days, but as long as all the 6:5 tables stay packed (and they are [eyeroll] ) that's never going to change.

-Also, Shake Shack just opened @ McCarran. :fire:

Just got back. Saw 4 shows and Helicopter Tour of Grand Canyon. Finally made it to Downtown to see Old Vegas and loved it. If you going to see shows stay on Strip so you can walk to them. If you want to Gamble stay at Golden Nugget Downtown.

So the Mirage is a decent place to stay? I've gambled there before but haven't ever stayed there. I can get the first two nights of the trip for free and the third night is only $35 (all plus resort fees). My wife won't be with me as it's just a guys trip if that makes a difference at The Mirage.

I can also do the other mid/low level MLife properties for free, but I don't want to stay that far down the strip.

I like the Mirage, nice vibe & great location -- they've redone most of the casino floor/center bar, and surroundings, and their sportsbook is one of the best setups on the strip - sounds like a no brainer if you're comped, try and work your way into a Tower room, if you aren't already.

Most Paddock folks will be staying in Presidential Suites (even though they're looking to cut that devastating $150/mo cable bill in another thread) but if you're looking for inexpensive rooms in a good location, try Bally's or Harrah's. They're older hotels, but right in the middle of the strip. Save the extra money for gambling, dispensaries and whores.

Cannot like this post enough.....Spot on!!! LMAO

Fremont is a must, at night only.

It reminds of the bar in the movie "Total Recall" where Arnold walks in and there's a woman with 3 titties just standing there like its perfectly normal.

Thats Fremont.

Highly recommend touring the Hoover Dam. We booked our tour through the concierge desk at the Bellagio.

I'll recommend one oddball spot: the Pinball Museum.

http://pinballmuseum.org/

If you're older and grew up playing pinball this place is like stepping back into the 70's.

My teenage sons and I had a blast for low dinero.

Alright fellas, got my UK tickets. Time to get more serious about rooms. Taking the wife, so not a bachelor/drunk/gambling fest. I have stayed at MGM, Mandalay, Elara, and Tropicana, looking for something different and nice on the strip. Leaning towards the Bellagio or Venetian but am open to recent/new suggestions.
Fire away!!!

Stayed at the Cosmo last fall. Really nice place right in between the Bellagio and Aria. What I liked most is that it's not a quarter mile walk from the strip to the front door like Caesars and the Venetian. Walk out the front door and your 20 feet from the street.
