My company I own in a small rural town off I-75 has had AT&T for 20 years for four cell phones. I pay over $300 p/mo and coverage is spotty. A family member says she has Verizon and has never had a problem anywhere she has gone.

For those of you that live in different parts of the state or live in other states, what do you have and do you like the coverage.

Verizon

Rarely do my employees and co-workers with AT&T have coverage when I do not. I often have coverage when they do not.

I had ATT for years with spotty service in SE Ky. Went to Verizon 2 years ago and I now have outstanding service especially on Laurel Lake which is where I really need it.

I never understood why ATT/Cingular never had service on Laurel.

Have att with zero coverage issues. Thinking about going to the unlimited data plan for four phones and bundling with direct tv and doing away with wifi at home it's so good.

Didn't like AT&T. Loved Verizon's network (was a customer for several years) but just switched to T-Moble as it is a better deal.

This is what I heard about ATT and service on Laurel and other dead spots around Corbin and SE Ky. ATT was going to rent tower space from another cell Co. that had the rights to the coverage area that included Laurel. They could not come up with an agreement with them or some other company bought the towers and ATT could not get the space. Verizon and other cell companies did get the space and that why ATT sucks on the lake. Not sure that true but it makes sense. I can remember sitting on Laurel with ATT and staring right at a cell tower and have no service,

I've had all 3 big carriers - Sprint, Verizon, AT&T - and the general reputation was true in my experience. Verizon is far better in terms of coverage. Also the most expensive...

Sooooo…your family member has been sitting back and laughing at you and your horrible cell phone coverage for 19 years. Wonder why they finally decided to let you in on what they have known all that time. Did you finally de-Grinchify yourself and get her something decent for Christmas last year?

Oh no! She has always told me that, but she doesn't have free unlimited data like my phones are "grandfathered" in to. It's just hard to change when you compare benefits. You're always giving up something just to get better service part of the time.
