Very disappointing Adidas clothing

Watching the press conference today it was easy, very easy, to notice the different shades of blue screen printing on Adidas apparel.

Also have noticed different shades of blue fabric.

The mixed shades of blue on game day when the team is on the sideline looks terrible….

This on a team striving for consistency and a high standard…

…some one who is well paid for this crappy apparel appearance should be fired immediately….they have had months to get this right.

There is such a thing as corporate graphic guidelines and they need to be followed.

I noticed last week that the blue numbers definitely are a lighter shade of blue, which I like. As far as the merchandise, it's fine. Unlike back in the 90s when Nike made stuff that looked different and unique for its teams, both Nike and Adidas now just make the same styles for their schools, so the new stuff really isn't unique as to each school.

I haven't bought anything licensed by either/both PSU or the ncaa since 2011. I have had some stuff gifted to me that I wear.

Family Clothesline has some good, reasonably priced, non-licensed stuff. So does the CCP on Temu.

We have not always used the same Pantone 282 Blue. Pantone Blue 287 is used for the Nittany Shield Branding.
Or just go back and watch some of the teams from the 80's, 90's and 70's. All used varying shades of Blue. I think some of the 70's team used a lighter, more blue, less purple version.

Yep, Paterno changed the color from royal blue to navy. Eventually the other sports fell in line. I know that even until recently if you dug deep enough, the official blue for the University was still a royal blue while the Athletics was navy. That’s why so many people freaked out when Penn State released the new logo as everyone thought it was the wrong blue. The last time I went poking through the PSU publicity guidelines, I couldn’t find any mention of royal.

The Kwalick photo others have posted is from November 1968. The jersey is still royal while the helmet stripe and TV numbers are navy. This picture of Reid is from October of 1969 and the navy switch is complete.

Here’s a pic at West Point from October 1958 and it looks all royal to me.

When we’re at the point of bitching about the laundry, I have to assume a national championship is on the horizon!!!!

Army’s #24 is Pete Dawkins. Or George Meade, one or the other.

Isn’t that Dex Very?
The picture is definitely of Ted Kwalick, right after he recovered an Army on-side kick. What made the recovery even more exciting was that the referees were still sorting out the scrum trying to determine who recovered the kick, while almost totally un-noticed, Ted was scooting down the sideline. Here's the play:

My Beam Hall roommate briefly dated Very’s granddaughter (a lovely girl, lovely person) and he told me that when Very (at around 85 years old) shook his hand he knew that he had been a hell of a football player.
Johnny U, and Chuck Bednarik had the most gnarly hands of any FB player I've met. Big, strong hands with bent and arthritic fingers formed from their years of play.
