Interesting, very good explanation of the situation. I will think long and hard on where my money will go when this happens.

YouTube tv over Hulu for me. Also get a 30 day trial
One thing on Hulu if you subscribe to the bundle with ads or no ads you basically get ESPN+ for free along with Disney +. You Tube does not offer ESPN+, you have to subscribe to it on ESPN. Just something to compare with YouTube.

Info I'm looking for, thanks. Cost will be a factor in my selection also.

I grew up listening to college football on the radio and enjoyed it.We only had 1 or maybe 2 college games per weekend on TV.
Now I’ve found myself listening to college football games on Sirius.Wouldn’t be the end of the world for me to have less games on TV

I've been using this for over a year now and I'm quite pleased with it. You can watch anything.

I couldn't read the whole thing, but I get the gist.

Nothing would be better for the sport of college football than if the whole thing came crashing down. It would be great to go back to the dark ages of one or two key games a week on national tv and regional broadcasts for the rest.

The writer takes way too long to make his point. The bottom line is a market correction is coming. The cost of sports, from the franchises to the athletes to the vendors to the personalities, is way overvalued.

And by the way, good riddance to the cable companies. Most of their content is garbage.

losing ESPN and the SEC channel wold be hard to take during BB season. WBB and MBB play two games a week. If the men ever get competitive then that is 4 games a week during the Winter for entertainment.

If you watch the Braves Bally Sports, FuboTV and Direct TV Streaming are the only way to go, We went with Direct TV, they have a 5 day trial and you can decide for yourself, so far so good for $90.00/mo. and a $30 discount to sign.

One thing that resonated with me was 50$ million for NBA players that no one knows. I can only name 4 NBA players...Kyrie, LeBron, Kobe(RIP) and S.Curry( I don't know if it's Steph or Seth.)

Is this rate an introductory rate for new members? What is the total bill with extra boxes for additional TV etc.
I'm asking because I am looking at DT, I had that with satellite a few years back. Price was getting out of hand back then.

There are no boxes it's Direct TV Streaming you just need internet, just like Netflix. $90, I have not seen the bill yet, there may be taxes and fees, and premium channels are extra!

Sorry, I just looked at the bill, it's $99.99/mo. with a 3 month $30 rebate making it $89.99 for three months then $99.99 after that. I saw no fees or taxes added $89.99 total.

College football thrived in that format for decades. It would do so again. And it would restore some normalcy to the sport.
It’s thriving now I don’t see the problem. The players have some rights that they have long deserved in my opinion.

Market correction is coming. It could be wonderful but it won’t. It’s feasible to have every game streamed and packed stadiums with affordable attendance.
Imagine if coaches only made, get this $1 million a year instead of $5 or $10MM. ESPN and the other channels wouldn’t need to pay so much for rights that pay the leagues, and we the fans in turn wouldn’t have to shell out hundreds to watch games. Unfortunately greed will likely win. We’ve already seen it with attendance over the past fifteen years. Instead of a full stadium at $25/seat, the venues choose half full stadiums at $100/seat for max profits. The same will happen with broadcasting. Some fans will pay whatever the price, others will walk away and the future fan base will decrease. A great example is MLB broadcasting. They make the most money on those regional Bally sports fox sports networks, but a ton of folks don’t have access to those channels and would rather see out of market teams anyway. As a result there are fewer MLB fans than there have ever been.

Would love to see salaries decrease across the board for coaches and players because let’s be real, what person in the United States NEEDS a multi million dollar salary?

The salaries will stay high though.

I just hope the sports survive mostly as we know them.

EVERYONE involved is desperately milking the cash cow. Eventually it will run dry. Things WILL come crashing down, but nobody seems to care about the long-term good of the sport, so long as they get their $$ before the collapse comes.

If a college coach making north of $10 million/year doesn't sound totally absurd to some people, they need to get their heads checked.

I had the bundle. I found that the only thing I ever watched on ESPN+ were the USC baseball games. I’ll probably pick it back up when baseball season comes around, but didn’t seem worth it overall.

Yeah. I tried Hulu as well. But ended up with YTTV bc it was so much easier to navigate.

YouTube TV added a nice multicast feature this year for college games. Had 4 games on the tv for most of the day saturday...except for the part of the game I watched. Only issue is it lags for a couple seconds when switching between games. The ESPN app has a GREAT multicast feature that works wonderfully and I used that all the time last year. I think it might only be on the Apple TV app, though. My nephew who uses Roku says his ESPN app doesn't have multicast.

I’ve always heard PPV killed boxing.

Some sports could have a similar fate.
