How does it work if you aren't top 2 in your district but you are the only representative out of your district for your region?I still like taking the top 2 teams in each district and rolling with that. Use the power point system as a tie breaker method.
I lkie the SOS, strength of schedule portion though don't know how is calculated. Kettle Run right now the leader in their section with the most abysmal SOS of any 4A team. Eastern View's SOS is pretty poor too. Interesting!
Bottom line is this rankings mean little if you win......prove it in the playoffs.During scheduling Courtland, Chancellor, and JM were well known established programs. Cant do anything about that....
Culeper is a given game.
Turner Ashby, Brenstville, and Orange were all playoff teams last year. What more can you do? I am sure the Cyclones wouldn't mind getting another crack at Lafayette this year.
P.S. They can only play the teams that are infront of them on friday night.
I'm not sure how it is calculated either (there are many ways to do it) but I think the basic difference is that not only is opponents records factored in (like power points) but the records of the opponents of the opponents are factored in as well. Basically, who have you played and who have they played?During scheduling Courtland, Chancellor, and JM were well known established programs. Cant do anything about that....

The problem with that is, some regions include more districts than others so there would be crazy numbers in the region if they automatically took top two from districts.I still like taking the top 2 teams in each district and rolling with that. Use the power point system as a tie breaker method.
I really like the VA ref site, good information in there. But what it doesn't tell you is how the teams won. I'll give you an example of what I mean. Eastern View...5-0, running clock in the start of every second half so far. They have scored quickly and they have scored on long drives. They have scored through the air and on the ground. The defense (the 1's) have only given up I think 2 real TD's this season. They have stopped the run and they have done well against the pass. They put almost 50 points up on Orange by half time. If memory serves me right, Orange didn't score till the second half. The same Orange team that went back and forth with C'ville, and put up 47 on them. The same C'ville team that went toe to toe with Glass. EV has size and speed. I don't mean a little speed, they have a lot of speed. And their size has speed. But like everyone else, I don't know how they stack up against the best of the best, and it is unfortunate that their schedule is light so we won't really know till the playoffs.
In my opinion, I will say without a doubt, this is the best Eastern View football team they have put on the field and I mean by a few lengths. They have things to improve of course, put their biggest weakness is their schedule.
No rule says they can't. If coaches want them to have more reps, give 'em more reps. My concern would be that they may not get tested before play-offs. How will they react to adversity? Can they remain calm in a close game late? How will they respond if a team doesn't succumb early? Questions you don't know the answer to until it happens.Excellent points... Yes the schedule is soft but they are annihilating teams in spectacular fashion! What more could you ask for. EV will be undefeated for sure and will more than likely play Monacan, Dinwiddie or Louisa in the 2nd round which would all be a "hell of a measuring stick" Good luck the rest of the way out to EV. My only concern is will they even have their starter in after the 3rd quarter even one game this season before the playoffs?
LCA hasn't been added to VHSL-Reference yet. VHSLR is not part of the VHSL, just an independent reference site.Is that all of 4a? Bc looks like LCA isn't in there
Got ya thanks, just weird they haven't been added yet since they have been vhsl since 2015LCA hasn't been added to VHSL-Reference yet. VHSLR is not part of the VHSL, just an independent reference site.
A few years ago Lafayette was done by half time too in every regular season game. The first string never got to the 4th Q. That year in the playoffs Lafayette played JM at home and the game went into OT. The regulars were so tired they couldn't score the needed TD and the xtra point to win. After the game the players agreed never going full speed in the 4th all year really cost them at the end.Excellent points... That's why I think Hatfield has been leaving his starters in longer and longer.A few years ago Lafayette was done by half time too in every regular season game. Not necessarily my team. I just live in that area. I follow many teams across the state@OCBoy EV is your team correct?

I've only seen them on film as I've been in South Carolina since august. I'm not sure where anyone said they would be down considering they returned a ton of players on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure if this is their best team ever but it would appear that way. They have one of the biggest offensive lines I've seen. The entire team has speed and both lines are physical. I think what makes this team different the past two years is their defense. The defense has improved a ton within the past 3 years. The Spangler and Hunter kids are special. Matt Lowry at qb has given the offense a new dimension with his running and passing ability. He is a junior and could have been the starter last year.Ahh ok but you have seen them in person? I wanted to know if you agreed with the other poster from EV that this is their most loaded team in a while? I heard whispers from other posters that they would be down this year slightly but sure doesn't look like it. If you have seen them... How good is this team?
