The one game Cal lets his guys shoot 32 3’s when they had a crazy advantage driving the ball and a guy named Cousins in the post. Thanks for never teaching your team how to beat a zone Cal. Even 15 years later and numerous zone games later he still didn’t do it.
Yeah man, totally crazy. I was screaming at the tv during the game. To make matters worse, I had to face probably the only WVU in Kentucky the following Monday at work. I think he still had the tags on his gear he wore 🤣

Look how many times the dribble jab half step back was used to create space for the open look. Something that Cal seemingly forbid, probably under threat of the treadmill. DJ Wagner was the lone exception of course, he got to launch into full stepbacks in isolation and throw up glass shattering projectiles to his heart’s content.

Oh man that’s weak. I yelled too, “stop shooting 3’s and drive and get fouled or give it to Boogie!” We can’t lose to Joe Mazulla!

He hit two. Wall and Liggins hit the other two. We shot 4-32 😲
Just another reminder that Cal’s entire approach to coaching is foppery.

Can you imagine what Mark Pope would do with fricking John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins and Etic Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson and Deandre Liggins and Darius Miller and Josh Harrellson all on one team?

I just hope we don't have a WVU performance in the tournament, and I don't think we will. Just too many threats from deep.
That team literally had 1 player who you could call a shooter. Like a true shooter. Darnell Dodson.

I think we have too many good shooters for them to all be off on a given night. When shots aren't falling for one, another will step up.

I'm very surprised by all their shooting abilities; but Almanor gets his shot off very quickly, and looks super smooth for a dude his height and size. I know he came in as a 3 pt threat but still pleasantly surprised by all of them.

They hadn't practiced against zone yet...

That WVU team was terrible from beyond the arc that year, but against Kentucky, they hit 7-8 threes.
