Wonder if those are average numbers of viewership or peak numbers?

Would assume more people tuned in initially to the football game.

Not surprising. The VB game was superior in every way to the FB game.
Plus more Wisconsin people watched that NW.

I would like to know how they count. We had over 20 watching with us. How do they know. We weren't watching dish network but on some other streaming

how many other P5 volleyball games were on broadcast tv at the same time? This was the game of the century in volleyball, while a mediocre football game competes with 20 other power 5 conference games in the same time slot, with roughly the same viewership.

While I am happy for the success of the volleyball team - it is something to be proud of, for sure; can we cool the jets on the “Volleyball School” thing? That’s just another way of saying our football and men’s basketball teams stink. And frankly, outside of Nebraska, no one is impressed by that.

A football loss in a low level bowl game to finish 6-7 will make me happier than a National Title in Volleyball.

It's quite the thing going on in collegiate volleyball and basketball right now and Nebraska had a lot to do with kick-starting it. I'm here for it.

Amen...

This is like Iowa fans bragging about wrestling.

In the end it is only about FB and BB.

Bought tickets right before both games:
Football - $40
Volleyball - $360

Volleyball is a winner program populated by winners. Football is a loser program with lots of built in excuses. It's not tough to figure out what's going on.

The ESPN broadcast of Auburn - Ole Miss drew 1.8M, for comparison 🤷‍♂️

Still, these are good numbers for volleyball and the popularity is undeniably expanding.

hang the banner?

how embarrassing
Why is it embarrassing. You had the Number 1 and 2 VB teams in America playing in big ten county. I would assume Wisconsin had a hell of a lot more fans watching the volleyball team than NW had games watching their football team.

What was your last username? I mean, you are still posting the same stupid crap, but it sounds just like a previous poster who posted stupid crap.

Yeah, not embarrassing. Topped ranked VB teams vs a couple of meh football teams. Makes total sense.

Tens of millions would tune in to watch Big Ten West football if the big meanies on this board would stop talking about how bad it is.

Totally agree w popularity booming, though it isn't for me.
I used to have a friend that tried to argue w me that Nascar was more popular than college football because they'd fill 250,000 people to a wknd race. Well, that's one event vs the average 40,000(?) per game for the top 25 (?) home games.

I watched every minute of both the football and VB games. More Wisconsin fans than there are Northwestern fans. I watched the end of the Iowa game too, so I contributed to those numbers. Nothing better than watching Kirk act like he knew all along his boys would pull it out only to have the zebras take it away from him. Even after the bad call on the punt return Iowa still had time to get in position for a game winning FG.

I'm the minority but I could care less about Nebraska VB
I don't think you are in the minority.

I think the minority are the hard core male fans of VB.
Then you have the "Ehhh, it is something to watch and I like NU" crowd
Then you have the "Yeah, I don't care" crowd.

I am guessing the last two make up 80%+ of the people.

There are people that will attend a HS FB game even with no kids on the team but I can't imagine that any dude just goes to watch a random HS VB match.

I'd rather watch collegiate VB before I watch soccer, NASCAR or golf. And because it's Nebraska it's even better. I don't care if one voices a disinterest in something. Just don't threadcrap the game thread.

I can't imagine watching NASCAR...Golf, if it is a major, I will watch it here and there.

Now, if you watch other teams playing college VB, you are a fan of the sport, which is totally different in my opinion. You actually like VB
