Curious to see how State fares against an ACC opponent. Tech is by no means a powerhouse, but an interesting game none the less.

Yeah, it's hard to say. The best team Tech has played is Clemson, and looking over the Hokies roster there's not a lot of familiar names from last season. I'm guessing @dukehokie could give us a little breakdown.

My initial hunch tells me that MSU covers the 13.5-point spread.

I honestly have little to no hope this game. MSU is still a legitimate squad regardless of how sloppy they’ve looked and Tech hasn’t played anyone of note yet (I think their SOS is dead last).

Landers Nolley is a really good player and Wabissa Bede is a solid PG. Everyone else is a severe role player. Jalen Cone is the only other player capable of really being a consistent scorer for now.

They’ve already over played by beating Clemson at Clemson, but this one will be too much. They shoot the three pretty well and it’s hard to shoot at LCC. There goes that advantage. Plus Young will want to get out and run and Izzo is going to slow this thing to a crawl.

Better days are ahead for Mike Young and the bunch though.

MSU covers and put whatever money you want on the under too.

Cone is from my hometown and is a great kid. I really hope he does well - he is smaller but a real good playmaker and shooter.

I was impressed with VAtech...they play a well organized game on both ends, play with a lot of energy and have players who can step up when asked. They wont be an easy ACC win in the regular season. Their coach is doing a great job so far looking at this game.

That's two early losses for MSU. They are gonna be in a desperate mood when we go out there next week. It may not mean how well they respond but how we respond and I don't like to see a man kicked while he is down but we need to kick them while they are down. OFC

After watching this game I’m pretty confident that we’ll win if we ply defense at the level that we’ve been playing and our offense doesn’t start our slow. The real question is, will that MSU thst started the other thread come back after they just lost to VT

Duke will have to close out on Vtech’s 3 point shooters in Blacksburg on December 6th. I have a feeling Moore and Stanley will be the main guys defending Nolley.

@dukehokie would you mind breaking down the game a little bit? I didn’t get to watch and don’t want to wait until the Duke vs. MSU podcast. Strangely enough Michigan State is still no. 1 in Kenpom, barely above us with 2 losses, so statistically they must still be scoring the ball and defending fairly well.

Young deployed the same defense Kentucky used. He used a chase hedge on Winston in the pick and roll and forced a marginal shooting team to shoot from deep.

On offense, they just continue to run their kick motion offense over and over. And they have shooters all over the place. They are small though and will still struggle defending bigger teams, but Young is using a form of the pack line. That makes interior catches difficult. It was a good game plan. Toppin is going to test this thing out though. Great win for Tech and the ACC that’s for sure.

Mike Young is fantastic

Yes he is. I’ve never seen a Tech team look so organized.
