Iowa -13.5
O/U 135.5

After a less than impressive victory over 15 seed FDU the hawks face 10 seed Virgina whom already upset 7 seed Georgia after beating ASU in the first four round. Virginia has now been in Iowa city a full week.

The Hawkeyes struggled mightily against FDU, shooting 1/13 from three and only making 17/29 free throws. Maybe it was nerves or the two week layoff but they looked awful for most of the game.

I expect the Hawkeyes to come out ready to play, and I think the men’s win will provide even more pep in their step.

77-69 hawks

I don't like the feel of this game....Virginia is probable going to play a lot of zone and Iowa hasn't been good shooting 3's lately so......

Good news is the first game has made Iowa battle tested in the tournament now, but this game worries me alot

Prob be a close game so I will be avoiding the misery of the game thread until after the game.
I was thinking the same, but I will be attending a drinking game where every time the usual suspects throw in a comment calling for Jan's head or complaining about the lack of a more fulsom coaching search results in a shot. I expect to be on the floor by the 3rd quarter.

Take a shot every time someone says "That's game" while Iowa still has the lead.

will hurt attendance. I will be there, but know a lot of people that work
It's bullshitt that ESPN set this for 1 pm instead of 6. After all, Nielsen just named Iowa the most popular women's basketball team in the damn country. Giving the Hawkeyes this time slot is criminal. Illinois and Vandy at 6? LOL Who the hell is gonna watch that game? Nobody.

And as you say, the game time penalizes those 15,000 Iowa season ticket holders, most of whom have to work for a living. I have no idea what kind of input, if any, Iowa has in these decisions, but I hope Beth has had a few well-chosen words for the morons at ESPN.

Most of the lots are likely full from daytime employees.

That are not going to be doing much work in about 45 minutes.

I always thought the complaint was Carver was to far from Campus, so how much of the parking is close to the campus?

(Obviously I have never been to Iowa City)

Hawks have to come out smoking and jump on this team early. Our guards have to start playing with some urgency and score some points. Virginia is a "play in" team so play like we're the dominant team, period.

All of those lots are used for other things throughout the day. All of it is basically hospital/dental parking. So even though it's far from campus, its still very close to where people work day-to-day.

I am pretty sure they cannot smoke in Carver.

I used to workin the parking department. Games like this (high profile at a weird time) put a lot off stress on the system. They need to move people to make room for the game attendants, but they can't move the wrong people because then they reign hell down on the department. It's a delicate balance which makes a lot of unhappy people. Just kind of depends on which people are worth making unhappy.

Everytime something comes up about date or times of games the answer always seems to be .. it's all about money. Then you have one of the most watched teams (think I saw we were rated 2nd) and they put us at 1:00...makes no sense.

I was thinking about that. Was thinking about UNLV...where does everyone park on a Monday? Class going on, already short parking just for the school. Would be insane to add a sporting event on top of it. I know when NFR was going on I would show up early just to ensure I could park.

Yep. It's counterintuitive. All done in the name of giving the women "their spotlight" yet all it does is take away from their spotlight.

Louisville arena is definitely not more than 50% full for their game against Alabama right now. Why? Because people have to f---king work on Mondays, that's why! And that's an NCAA Tournament game being played by the home team in a city with a metro population of 1.4 million people.

So not only does this Monday idiocy make for lower TV ratings, it also puts fewer butts in seats, fewer meals out at local restaurants, less parking revenue, lower hotel occupancy, lower concessions sales, and on and on. It's not like the Iowa men's game was going to keep CHA from being full if the women's game was also yesterday.

Just another example of women's sports being so militantly and myopically obsessed with finding any way to not be in the men's shadow that they instead actually unilaterally and intentionally put their sport at an exposure disadvantage.

People do not work on Thursday?
