I would be very surprised if she plays in the WNBA, but I would be happy for her.

She's not B1G caliber just like Libby Fandel isn't.
Seriously, CCA lost to most every decent team they played and she fasted on crap teams in the high school season.
Padding stats against South Tama, Benton, Grinnell, and Vinton Shellsburg is misleading.

I don’t think Jan will be fired. I think she has some serious reflecting to do as a leader. I want her to get better, I just don’t know yet if that’s possible.
The people attacking other posters are the posters that refuse to objectively view JJ's shortcomings.

I think she took a team of mostly 3* underclassmen about as far as we could've hoped. This isn't a team stacked with McD's All Americans. She coached them to the B1G title game and a #2 seed. I think people ripping on her for not being able to do with this team what Bluder did with CC and Co. are a being a little delusional.
Agreed, and they are allowed to have that view as well. Jan is a respectable coach in general. I think it’s ok to like what she is doing and it’s ok to be critical. We ARE all Hawkeyes at the end of the day (Jan included).
Actually, they are the "holier than thou folks" that never post anything that can be construed as negative and rag on people who have a different opinion.
I agree, but you have to question some of her decisions and the last three games. I have never seen any posts stating Iowa should have replicated the CC results with this team.
Anyone can see that good things happen when Journey is in the game. This game was no exception. Had a great first half. Does whatever they ask her to do very well, no matter what it is. The fact that she didn't play in the second half is crazy. That IMHO is bad coaching.
Well, that sucked. Horrible shooting once again aside, the one thing that had me completely baffled was that "play call" at the end of regulation with Chit Chat just dribbling out front until 4 seconds with a big on her. She'd have been better off taking the shot a bit earlier if nothing else.
She was trying to get it into Ava who was smothered and then once it was clear that wasn't going to work she made a move to get the defender off her for a shot. Wasn't great, but better than not getting a shot off at all.
How are we so bad at free throws??? How is that not emphasized?

I’ve mentioned on here many times that Jan should have been working with HS on some moves around the basket, but for some reason she just let her go. I for one am glad she’s done. Good rebounder but everything else never improved. That’s on Jan. Those stupid bounce passes inside no matter how many defenders are there and turnover after turnover and she doesn’t fix it. Hope she can recruit because some of the coaching is definitely questionable. Young team but can the mistakes be coached out of them.
I would have liked to have seen either Journey or Addie flash the high post and work from there. Not confident they would have hit those jumpers either but I would have tried it. They barely saw the floor. I don’t remember Deal at all.

Holy. Hell. You have no idea what you’re talking about. If Fandel can play in the Big 12 she can play in the BIG. Molly Miller is a phenomenal young coach who thinks Lower can play…we can revisit this in a few years. She’s an elite shooter. She could help Iowa. Duh.
Hayes is a few minutes a game backup and I don't see much more from her without a major uptick in skill level which I am not optimistic about.
You believe THAT was the playcall? The other team might have defended what Iowa was attempting. That happens in basketball. Two teams are playing.
They barely beat the #15 seed and lost to "play in" #10 seed...ON HOME COURT

Not to be too harsh on either player but I thought the same of Howard last night air-balling a free throw. Fortunately we didn't need as much from him as we did CC11.

The big difference is none of them were built like Hayes and all were more athletic.

With all due respect, I am glad all the seniors are done. The big 4 players during the FF4 run were tough mentally. These seniors are not. Time to move on. With that said, I don't see Jan being capable of a restock of talent good enough to compete at an Elite 8 or even S16 level. She kept players here post Bluder. She recruited the incoming one HS signee that's very good when she needed 2 or 3. Last year, Wright came with the GT assistant and Rodriguez is a No Show. I cant imagine fans will be tickled when ER enters portal and Jan gets asked why, and why she did not say a word all year letting her sit on the bench, just to trade NIL money to do a fraud redshirt. Disappointed in Beth, unless we clearly did something wrong. Jan needs minimum 4 high quality, mentally tough people ready for prime time. She likely has 6 leaving, one open spot now and 1 incoming. Next year will be determined by June. Other than Ava, i don't see elite 8 talent on the roster, including Addie.

No, I don't believe that was the play call. I understand she was trying to get the ball to Ava but there was no movement by the others and Virginia wasn't going to just let her throw the ball to Heiden. Some hi low action would have been a much better strategy.
We shot 37% from the field, 17% from 3pt, and 50% from FT. Is that JJ's fault too?
