One other thing of note, there was no coaching search when JJ was hired. At least none that was ever made public.
I strongly suspect it was the Bluder influence or condition of Bluder's retirement.
And here we are...Likely the biggest upset of this season's NCAA tournament.

No, I don't believe that was the play call. I understand she was trying to get the ball to Ava but there was no movement by the others and Virginia wasn't going to just let her throw the ball to Heiden. Some hi low action would have been a much better strategy.

Anyone can see that good things happen when Journey is in the game. This game was no exception. Had a great first half. Does whatever they ask her to do very well, no matter what it is. The fact that she didn't play in the second half is crazy. That IMHO is bad coaching.

I love the play of Houston but you are wrong, she missed 3-4 bunnies in the first half. Granted she also got those rebounds for the opportunities, but she had the deer in headlights look same as Deal. Confidence was not there for this team today and THAT is what the coaches are responsible for!

I would have liked to have seen either Journey or Addie flash the high post and work from there. Not confident they would have hit those jumpers either but I would have tried it. They barely saw the floor. I don’t remember Deal at all.

There was no substitution patterns, Jan relied on the starters, except when Heiden had to sit in first half. I don’t think Hannah sat at all till end of 3d quarter. There was no way the bench could have helped in OT when they were cold

Hint...Two are currently HCs in the SEC and both are Iowa natives.
Both played at Iowa.

Again, for Bluder's job...the menu of applicants would likely have been an extremely impressive list.
Someone in another thread even insinuated JJ has the job because of her off the court personal life. That's ridiculous.
But Iowa got a person with no CEO experience and one who specialized with post players.

Bluder failed to make it out of the first weekend 13 times in 24 seasons, including 2021-22 when we were ranked #8 in the country, a 2 seed and playing at Carver with Caitlin and Monika and Kate and Warnock and Gabbie and we lost to 10 seed Creighton.

Iowa blew out Illinois State by 40 in the game before Creighton in 21/22.
Iowa barely squeaked by FDU on Saturday. The signs were there for a loss today.
They probably should have lost the FDU game

We had most of what would become a Final Four and Natty Game roster, and we lost as a 2 seed at home to the 10 seed. That's a much bigger failure than this year's team losing. On the plus side, TCU is up 12 with 3:36 to go, although they haven't really been able to land the knockout blow yet.

Virginia hasn't been hero ball "team of destiny" bombing 3s like they were in Iowa City, so that's been the only solace to this whole day thus far.

With that said, I'll also be ready to see TCU lose to South Carolina on Monday. You keep giving a team that visibly exaggerates how over-confident they try to play, more and more and more, and you're only inviting people to want to hate that they even existed in the first place.

They're not there yet, but I promise you if TCU beats South Carolina, they will be insufferable, and we don't need to trade one "tyrant" for another so to speak.........

For now, they're a necessary evil to get rid of Virginia.

But sweet 32 last year and sweet 16 this season shouldn't be the ceiling.
