Do you think Justin Anderson will be back in time to play for their ACC tournament start tomorrow? If he plays tomorrow that will make it just 7 days since his appendectomy. With him back Virginia is a strong, potentially championship rival team.

I wouldn't be in the least surprised tomorrow is UVA loses. Without him UVA is a borderline good team IMO . Even with him they are good but not IMO on the level of Duke , Wisconsin or Nova. I would put them in the next group with teams like Witchita St , Zona and Iowa St ( gonzaga isn't even in that group IMO ) .

UVA has only lost one game without him, and that was because of a semi-miracle shot. If he comes back this soon he must be pretty special.

UVA's offense suffered big time without Anderson.

They are still pretty freaking great on defense tho and will give teams trouble still based solely on that.

He's a huge part of their team tho.

I thought Anderson went out due to a hand injury and then had a appendectomy. Did I not hear that his hand had to operated on or was this two different players ?

He had surgery for his fractured finger as well as an appendectomy just recently, just before almost making a return for the Louisville game.

I asked a doctor yesterday about this scenario and he said four weeks minimum to return if they were able to use the laparoscopic incision. More if the incision is larger. UVA would have to make the Final Four without him for him to play. He would be out of game shape by that point. Tough break for the Wahoos.

Caneintally, you don't really believe that UVA is down on the level with schools like wichita state do you? If you seriously think that way than I have no choice but to say you don't know what you're looking at. It might be boring to watch but the UVA team is a top 4 team with or without Justin Anderson.

They are definitely covering their basis (aka trying to keep the 1 seed) by saying he "could" be back by the start of the NCAA Tourney. That is cute, very Boeheim like.

I want them to stay on the 1 line though, so fine by me.

He will be a non factor even when he gets back. He's not going to be game fit by any stretch, he will have hard time with jumpers, and like someone said it will be a while a month from the time of appendectomy before he plays.

I wouldnt be shocked if we find out after the first weekend of the tournament that Anderson is done for the year. Teams tend to go to great lengths to keep their projected seeding because if they admitted a player was done , they'd drop a seed line or two.

yeah didn't Syracuse wait until the tourney a couple years ago to pull Fab Melo? After the seedings got announced, later that week

Defensively they are but offensively they aren't IMO UVA is the 7th or 8th best team IF AND THAT IS A HUGE IF THEY ARE HEALTHY. But Wisconsin , Duke , Nova , and a few others are better and that is if they have Anderson . Without him there are 15-20 teams better . I won't believe Anderson is back til i see it so at this moment i would rank the top 10 as

1.UK
2.Wisconsin
3.Duke
4.NOva
5.Witchita St
6.Zona
7.Notre Dame
8,Maryland
9. Iowa St
10.Gonzaga

This ^^^^ Even if he makes it back, he will be in poor game shape...especially v. the Best of the Best...

UVA will not make the FF without him...

For those wondering, Justin Anderson IS in uniform and IS warming up. That is just a week after having an appendectomy. This is going to get interesting.

Come on now Will.

Wichita St #5? And ahead of Zona? The Shockers have ONE win against a good team and that was a mid major. Iowa State lost to Texas Tech and to South Carolina at home!

Virginia already beat Maryland @ Maryland and Notre Dame @ Notre Dame.

Gonzaga has been exposed to be what we all thought they would be.

I wouldn't disrespect UVA like this.

That's an awful Top 10 list. Duke should be #2, Wisconsin #3 or #4.

Wichita State and Iowa State? Please....Northern Iowa and Kansas are definitely ahead of those 2.

UVA has been crazy impressive, especially with Anderson out.

With him they are a legit contender. Not a team I would want to play. You get down 8-10 to them and you are not coming back.

Probably the same doctor Rick Pitino uses initially when a kid gets injured.

Rick Pitino: "Player A suffered an injury in practice, he'll be out 6 months, may never play again"
Next game: Player A is back in the lineup.
